NYDN: Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira takes hit with Bobby Valentine’s new manager position
Boston’s gain might be Mark Teixeira’s loss.
The Yankees first baseman has done most of his offseason hitting at Bobby Valentine’s baseball academy in Stamford during the past two winters, but now that Valentine has taken over as manager of the Red Sox, Teixeira joked that he may no longer be welcome.
“He’s there a lot,” Teixeira told MLB.com Wednesday before being honored by the March of Dimes. “He’s a very busy guy obviously, but we’ll go and we’ll talk about hitting, we’ll talk about baseball. I don’t know if those conversations are going to be kept to a minimum now.”
Seems to me to that whatever Teixeira’s spending his offseason doing hasn’t helped him much the last two years. So this is good news.
