This is probably the last game of the Yankees’ season.  It was mostly fun while it lasted.

I have already started packing up my fan gear…

[0] That’s what you said last time.

The pressure’s on Cleveland, the Yankees have the momentum, just keep the crowd out of the game and we’ll be OK.

The best way to get the crowd out of the game is to get Kluber out of the game.

Buck and Darling the worst yet.

[3] Since when are you playing the optimist?

Cliche parody.  35% win probability seems about right.

Ollie Perez is still around? Didn’t he pitch for the original Mets in 1962?

This is where having Shelly Duncan on the roster to charge the mound from the dugout would be helpful.

[9] Yep, same guy apparently.

Is the OF defense with Judge instead of Ellsbury?

Just win.

7 scoreless, 12K from Strasburg. Think CC’s got that in him?

CC doesn’t fear Girardi calling him a wimp for not pitching. The underrated genius of Dusty Baker.

Dusty is a regular Machiavelli.

So Maddon will lose the game AND has burned Lester.

Dusty Baker knows about baseball.  Hire him!

Well, Indians have a big edge tonight but ... it’s baseball.  Whatever happens it’s been a great season.

Go Yanks!

Before my emotions take me… Thank you all for a fun season.

Hopefully I get to say that twice more.

ID10T play right there

I heard you can’t predict this shit

K-ron Judge

Didi!!!!  Yes!

Didn’t expect that.

Well, Mr. Smartypants Microphone Muncher, how you like Didi now ? Huh ? HUH ?!!?! Answer ME !!!!

All right now just need a shutout from CC

Holy shit did Sanchez look awful there

I go straight to Chapman, here.

[28] Just 2 shutout innings really, then bullpen.

“Okay, CC, so no worries, just go pitch a shutout and we’re good.”

[18] I’ve been puzzling about this for like, an hour, since the Cubs lost. Then I realized…Oh….Riiiiiight.

Honestly I feel like Sanchez is 115% defense and 85% offense right now. He’s been blocking balls pretty well and has looked… Interesting at the plate.

[35] When Sanchez looks bad at the plate, he looks really bad. Strikeouts like that or groundouts on the first pitch, but then he’ll crush one later in the same game.

I LOVED that inning. 9 more please.

C.C. looked *sharp*.  That bodes well.

CC had solid command. He’s not going to keep missing bats like that, but his pitches have life and he’s staying out of the middle

Reporting in from Townie Town, even though Farrell is officially the early scapegoat, fans are already prepping to throw Pedroia under the bus as soon as he is shipped out in a year or two (with them swallowing a lot of his contract). They already have set up the narrative that he isn’t enough of a leader and has been undermining anyone trying to control the clubhouse for years.

We do that 8 more times and the 9th doesn’t matter.

[40] That actually strikes a true chord.

That would not go unappreciated in these parts.

Hixie OWNS Klinger

That was a surprising AB.

Did it look as strange IRL as it did on GD?

I couldn’t handle another 1-0 game

That’s a skill, a weird skill but a skill.

Swing for the catcher, not the ball.

Definitely a skill. Probably the least good baseball skill to have, but a skill.

CC is getting some VERY generous strikes.

I’m stuck with radio only. Does CC look as good as Sterling thinks he looks?

[54] Yes, but Kluber was as well.  C.C. taking advantage better so far, the wily veteran that he is.

[54] EVERYONE facing Judge in this series has been getting a VERY VERY generous strikezone, so let’s call it even.

CC looks good. Seems to benefitting from a generous zone.

[52] A skill that could be lumped in with David Eckstein’s grittiness skill?

FanGraphs had an article today on the wider strike zone in the postseason over the past decade.

Road teams in 21-19 in ALDS DS game fives, interesting.

Schmoltz with a solid point that Kluber can’t bury his two-seamer on the inside corner to lefties. It keeps floating either up and out of the zone or over the middle of the plate.

[60] I think umps really enjoy punching guys out in the playoffs. Both home and away.

I don’t believe it!!!!

Judge needs to offer Jobu cigar and rum

Derek Who?

...over the middle of the plate!

Greatest SS in Yankees history

I’m euphorious!

Raise your hand if you saw that coming.

[68] Are you saying Jesus Christ couldn’t hit a curveball?

Sonchez and Judge look like such shit tonight

Have to sit Judge and Gary for Romine and Clint if we advance.

Didi’s little bat flip is so cool

Remember when Didi first got to the Yankees, was taking over for Jeter, made some questionable errors in his first few games, and was being referred to as ‘Dodo’? Glad I was on the side of, ‘let the kid play, I mean what else are they going to do? Give the job to Nun-E?’

Lotta baseball left. Ain’t no one advancing to shit just yet.

Judge looks awful.

Didi looks like a man designed to break Corey Klubers.

[76] I had just finished taking a big mouthful of sausage and mushroom pizza and cheap Costco red wine, and said to Di (we’re tight, so I only need one “di”) “Do it again, Motherfarnser !”

And. He. Did.

Or more properly: “And. He. DiDi !!!”

That actually* happened.

*More or less. Within the bounds of Congressional Testimony rules.

Also: M V DeeeeeeeeeeeDeeeeeee !!!!(tm)

[79] Quite awesome. Shock-some, too.

So, you could say Shock-and-Awesome. If you were so inclined.

CC looks like the proper choice so far, eh?  I have a hard time thinking Gray would have done this well.

Ok THAT says everything aboit this game (so far?)

[89] Why you gotta jinx this?

Who is the guy in the Sabathia jersey?

Wow.  This is spectacular.

I approve of the first 3 innings of this game.

Also, how cool is it that Judge and Sanchez can be overmatched but Didi can pick up the slack like this?  We may be witnessing the beginning of a really fun team.

[92] Rocket. He used a shit-ton of suntan-in-a-tube.

It is pretty cool that CC is starting in the same stadium on the 16th anniversary of his first post-season start.

[95] It would be really cool if we had a team so composed as to take equal advantage of opposite pitching approach, such that to exploit one batter the pitcher was conditioning himself (or herself, let’s be fair for a minute) into an approach that gave the next batter their preferred advantage.

Sort of like Leftie-Rightie but worse. We’re talking genuine cognitive dissonance, here. Make the pitcher literally lose his (or her) freaking mind !

[98] The good Scotch came out early.

Well this is interesting.
