The Yankees have played 31 games in Fenway in April since 2001. Their record in those games is 9-22. So you should have a pretty good idea of how this series is likely to finish up.
Unless Freddy Garcia runs off a string of decent starts, he’s probably going to be the first guy bumped from the rotation when either Andy Pettitte or Michael Pineda are ready to join the team. Perhaps that string can get started today. This is probably the least favorable pitching matchup for the Yankees in this series, and if the weather reports about tomorrow are accurate this may be the last game in this series, so a win would be nice.

woo, error! choke job!
It was pretty fucking ridiculous how long it took them to get back to the Yankee game, especially considering what was going on.
Get one more here, and I’ll believe we have a chance…
Mike Aviles fielding error, A-Rod on 1st, and - where Wolf? Wolf on third.
How?
I don’t know.
All together: First base!

Tex!
[103] Your runs, sir?
WOW.
Or, you know, three more….
Sweet sassy molassy.
i’d like to note that i started following this game about 40 seconds before swish homered.
To judge by GD, Bud, the booth and ESPN agreed that it would be in the best interests of baseball to stop the game right here.
whooooooooooooooo!
(Belatedly)
This is the opposite of a perfect game.
Excellent.
Let’s get another eight guys in a row on base so Jones can strike out three times in the inning.
And Andrew Jones with two SO in one inning.
Huh I left my office at 7-0 and got home in time for the CT. FU Fredo.
I hope Andruw strikes out three times in this inning, and the replay overshadows the perfecto.
This reminds me of Game 1 of the 2004 ALCS…just as examples of the speed with which a comfortable game can become a nailbiter when you’re dealing with these teams.
[119] Please refrain from lying, there was no ALCS in 2004 because of the strike.
I’m eagerly awaiting SG’s pop in to remind us about Soriano’s contract.
Fuck this piece of garbage.
Watching the perfect game was awsome. It was a terrible call, but after the last umpire took away the perfect game with that incredible shitty call in the last out, there was no way in hell the umpire would give anything close to the batter.
MFIKY with the Robertson special this time.
Six outs to get one run, plus whatever Soriano gives up in the eighth. It’s the perfect CT storm.
MFIKY… IKY = I know you?
Oh, just tell me.
I kill you, pet name TB fans gave to him for his clubhouse face.
Used to enjoy Aceves, now I’d love to see him get shelled.
GD again stopped what’s happening?
Aceves 6 up 6 down for the CT.
We must take this game, mainly for the comedy that will follow in the Boston media.
Aceves throws 96? What the fuck
“Scout”: Aceves is really trying to keep Nunez close… he is 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts…”
Has Eddey Nuneyson even drawn a throw?
[132]
You do know that pitchers pick up and extra 1 to 2 mph in the pen.
And an additional 5-6 mph in the Boston pen.
Blue testicles
That looked like a very, very nice AB.
Dear Derek, I’d like to apologize for any dark thoughts I harboured towards you earlier today.
Jeter has a 1.015 OPS
FOX just changed over to Boston with the end of the Chusox game.
YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH

SWISH!!
Swish is in full-on Beast Mode.
Swish TYM !!!
RobMo!!!!
Shwishhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome.
Happy Birthday, continued!!!!!!!!!
ACE-ves !!!
I’m speechless.
Put a capper on it A-Rod.
Man… how far was that hit?
Killer Instinct Time, Alex.
Make this the second perfect game of the day.
Aceves is the best sleeper agent ever
[148] Hit halfway up the monster. Came down behind the defender who was too close to the wall.
Random, but does anyone else think the Yankees have every intention of keeping Nunez no matter what because he could replace either Jeter, Cano, or Granderson after ‘13?
SOSH game thread is good reading right now.
AGHH! sterling you pussface
[152] I still think they love his skills and will settle in. It’s nerves, not talent. We’ve seen it. If he calms down and eliminates the unforced errors, he could be a really good player.
What did Sterling do?
Yes, SOSH is hilarious.
Oh, look - A-Rod is still trying to copy everything Derek does.
[155]
This. I really think so. I just have a hard time believing Pin does, too.
Run(s)!

Hilarious. Bobby V.
We got what we came for…now I just feel bad for Ace.
WP - please edit 158, it broke my screen
someone here called 12-10.
Can someone please compile the best of SOSH for today.
[160] Fuck Aceves. He should have pitched better and taken better care of himself while he was with us. This wouldn’t be happening to him now.
[157] I’m serious. I’m a Nooney Booster for real. And, eh… shizzle or something. But I have a low patience threshold. I’m fickle. Could turn at any moment. But until then, I’m rock solid.
Bobby V getting what’s coming to him. I got a coke says he doesn’t finish the year.
Where’s his mustache?
Guys, I left the bar literally behind my house at 9-0 and got home at 9-8. We’re all welcome.
HAHAHAH this is fantastic
Thought it was dumb to PH. Ace was on the ropes, who knows if they take him out right then if you leave the righty in.
yankz - done.
[163]
bebop, I’ve been trying to, starting from the end. Back several pages and haven’t found anything to exclude.
Holy effen pelican beaks. I turned the TV off after the perfecto. This is mad perfecterer.
[166] Did you get lost? And if so, could you re-create that scenario again should the need arise?
169 Ha Ha
[166] You, sir, have just stopped drinking. I, however, just started. And pouring it on.
Guys THIS IS THE PERFECT GAME!!!
Townies bringing in their seventh pitcher of the day. SEVEN !!
Anyone doubt that Bobby V is managing for what’s left of his job ?
See, the Yankees know what they’re doing, limiting their pitchers’ velo to 91-92. Ace joins the Sox, suddenly throws 96 consistently, and - look what happens!
definitely best baseball night since 2009.
[154]
WJ, what did Stoiling do?
Wow.
Nunyeyeyyeyyyye forevah.
that….was…..just…..fantastic!
Even dirt roots for the Yankees.
Oops.
[178] Not listening, but since Alex hit one about 9 inches wide of the foul line, on a 120inch wide wall, I gotta believe it was IIH, IIF, II….Foul.
We’re allowed to bring back the 1918 chant after this game, right?
“The Yankees are losing this game,” I said. “Good opportunity to plant the collard greens.” Wow.
Since last Autumn the Townies have been a lot of fun. Who’s your daddy?

holy shit, I went for an 11-mile run starting when we got down 7-0…..
[189] Get back out there for 3 more miles.
[187] Awesome.
This is one of the great games ever.
Pederer strikes out, just to up the ante.
To answer, Sterling made me believe Alex’s ball was a RBI double.
A-Rod not interested in padding stats is like having a puppy that all of a sudden doesn’t want to eat. I think the little guy is sick or something.
Some SOSH Gems:
“If Swisher died tomorrow I really wouldn’t feel bad. Not one bit. “
“When Tito is back tomorrow, I bet he just sits up there and laughs uncontrollably during the shitshow while dropping his pants in Lucchino’s direction during commercial breaks. This is a fucking joke, this team has totally lost their philosophy. “
“I seriously want to murder all yankee fans.
”
The last day of the 2011 season was better. But this is pretty awesome.
[187] I will remember that for a long time.

Remember how some people used to say they’d rather the team suck than lose in heartbreaking fashion?Yeah, I have decided I disagree with that viewpoint. This is the worst.
The two were not mutually exclusive today.
This game is not over yet. We could get Eppleyfied.
Man I want to meet some of these attractive young ladies who eat Doritos tacos.
