The Yankees have played 31 games in Fenway in April since 2001. Their record in those games is 9-22. So you should have a pretty good idea of how this series is likely to finish up.
Unless Freddy Garcia runs off a string of decent starts, he’s probably going to be the first guy bumped from the rotation when either Andy Pettitte or Michael Pineda are ready to join the team. Perhaps that string can get started today. This is probably the least favorable pitching matchup for the Yankees in this series, and if the weather reports about tomorrow are accurate this may be the last game in this series, so a win would be nice.

I’m already looking forward to the Rangers destroying sleepy Yankees on Monday, because they had to to sit through hour-long rain delays on Sunday night.
Fuck the Rangers. Overrated. Bring ‘em on.
Oh, I’m not pants pissing, I’m annoyed that ESPN can’t broadcast at 1pm, when one of the teams has to travel to Texas the next day.
Fredo or Felix today?
That’s jeter’s job.
This is not the time for Swisher to make fun of 2011 Jeter.
[EDIT: Or what bebop said]
Arod 0/2012, 220 OBP vs lefties
Didn’t Fredo suck vs BOS last year?
Being the Townies manager SHOULD mean never having to say your sorry.
They weren’t all earned Timmy, do your homework
blech.
Freddy’s pixie dust is all gone.
New model body or designer roids?
Andy please take Fredo for a little fishing trip…..SOON
At least Pineda is coming soon.
...
The final score of this game will be 12-10.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard Joe Buck this excited. I thought AGon’s ground rule double was hit out of the stadium. Definitely no bias there.
17-Yeah sounded like a Mickey Mantle/Frank Howard tape measure job.
Three-pitch strikeout - Grandy specialty.
terrible, terrible ABs
Two runs is more then enough for Doubront, let alone the 12 Townies are gonna score.
Really? That’s swinging?
Nice AB Russ. See when you got a 3 ball count and then the pitch is so far outside it looks like an IBB, take it.
Garcia is essentially a batting practice pitcher for the opposing team. This is particularly bad considering Pineda isn’t coming back as soon as hoped.
I think Freddy is doing this on purpose because he was so offended that the Yankees dared to sign Kuroda and trade for Pineda when they had him, Freddy F-ing Garcia, on the roster.
Now he’ll teach them a lesson.
Won’t you come home Bart Colon, won’t you please come home (or Andy or Pineda)
Free David Phelps
What a complete crapfest from Garcia. Not sure he makes another start.
I’ll do the cooking Bart, I’ll pay the rent, won’t you please come home and FU Cash. Wouldn’t it be nice to have Bart for half a season until he breaks down?
Hughes is like Pedro compared to Fredo (the bass are biting)
Strike one.
Well that should be the end of the Sweaty Freddy era.
Hey he just had a little bad luck, a few 2 strike hits, seeing eye grounders, I thought his stuff was good.
[33] absolutely.
Buck: “Aviles, to his left….good play.”
It was a fairly routine play, Joe. You’re bias is showing.
Great AB, Derek. Just great.
Here we go, big rally!
y’all seen ESPN? Pineda shut down with shoulder pain.
Over/under on him pitching in a MLB game for us this year?
Cano has the third lowest OPS in the lineup today
In other words we’re effed especially with Betances and Banuelos pitching to over 10 eras and Banuelos on DL to boot.
Once again, the Yankees shift not only fails to prevent a hit, it likely created it. Unvelievable.
Over/under on him pitching in a MLB game for us this year?
FTFY.
What the fuck is wrong with Girardi? If he doesn’t know how to shift then don’t do it at all.
[43] The same thing that keeps him from knowing how to do it, prevents him from knowing NOT to do it.
Yay Youklis plunk ! It’s my birthday all weekend long !
What is it with these clowns and the excessive eye black? Bobby V hire the Ultimate Warrior as his bench coach?
They should skip Garcia next time in the rotation because the off day on Thursday will keep everyone else on regular rest
I have a slight feeling that the Yankees won’t win today.
Figures the Yankees would follow up a nice win with an embarrassing loss.
Poll: Would you label this game a shitshow ? Or do we need to give up more runs first ?
At least it makes the “who to cut” dilemma somewhat easier…
I don’t see Pettitte making it from May to October, however…
Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn.
Are the shift failures on Girardi or are geeks and scouts not as bright as TB’s?
Does Marlon Byrd count as a big trade?
I can’t believe we’re not going to go 18-0 against Boston.
I love what the offense is doing today.
So consistent!
[55] 1-17 is still in play, and looking more than likely.
I’d recommend watching the Chicago - Seattle game instead. Perfecto in progress.
[58] Which, of course, is blacked out…
So Jeter is responsible for gas prices? I knew I didn’t like him!
[59] It’s all I can get. Resorting to gameday audio. Serves me right.
I am sorry to hear that. I live in the UK, so blackout-free baseball for me.
Situations like these always remind me of Mike Mussina and Carl fucking Everett :(
6 batters to go.
Remember when Humber was a failed prospect? He had a hell of a year last year and is following it up nicely.
Reminds me also of Wang coming close twice to throwing a no-hitter against Seattle.
Doubront looks good, but the Yankees don’t seem to be helping themselves much in some of these ABs.
Wow, he is putting it right on the corners.
First time I’m rooting against Jesus.
That figures.
Can they just switch to the CWS/SEA game? It’s far more interesting than this is.
3 outs.
Do you think our Phil Hu. will ever do anything like this…
8 IP 80 Pitches thrown. 3 outs to go.
[73] Not on the Yankees, unless he pulls his shit together. Anyone think that Phelps will be the starter over Freddy next turn through?
I liked dakranker’s “skip him” idea. Save Phelps in case Kuroda or Hughes shits the bed again.
Lillibridge. Ground out meekly and get your guy back out there. WTF
MLB.tv used to offer free live “lookins” for stuff like this. Because of this Fox horseshit however, I don’t think they will be able to do it today.
Humber’s going to overthink this. His arm is going to go cold. All because of Brent Lillibridge.
I’ve no idea who these FOX announcers are, but needlessly to say, they are worlds better than Joe&Tim;.
Good old Brent Morel. Happy 25th birthday.
Thank you, Mr. Morel
Finally, something good to watch!

There you go, live lookin !
That was awesome
K!
Pop out!
Doubt he swung but AWESOME!
Terrible call, but PERFECT!
Nice. Well done lad.
Someone check Hawk Harrelson for a pulse
That was awesome. And Sorianoesque. But Awesome !
Shades of the last out in Larsen’s perfect game.
Congrats to Humber
In the meanwhile, NYY scored 5 runs.
NOTHIN’ BUT NET!
{& I’m nuthin’ if not persistent}
Switching to that perfect game was apparently good luck.
Nobody switch back
Cano doubles. Padilla replaced by Albers.
Do I have to GD-blog for all you guys stuck on the other (finished) game?
