Is Tyler that bad defensively in the OF because between Scranton and here he’s been beating up on LHP.  I’d like to seem him get a shot in a regular platoon role either at 1B or the OF.

It is a surprise that Clint gets the start over Austin. Hot bat against LHP should get the nod, not a guy just off the DL.

Is Tyler that bad defensively in the OF

Basically, yeah. He can pass in right, but he’s really not much of an outfielder. They said as much earlier in the year that they did not see him as a possible left fielder when Ellsbury and Hicks were hurt, even though he’s played left before.

Remember when we had a discussion earlier this season if 500 teams go 20-5 over a 25 game stretch? Well it looks like this Yankee team will be on the plus side of that one.

The Dodgers are trying to prove that a 90+ win team can actually lose 10+ games in a row. I wonder if that ever happened before.

My guess is Austin’s offense is more valuable than Clint’s defense and I would think that’s generally true for outfielders.

THey have to figure out their post season roster. That means spreading out ABs among those on the bubble, Like Austin and Frazier.

Clint’s a prospect.

You don’t have a good handle yet on how he’s going to hit. You play him to find that out. And it sometimes takes time - and patience.

He’s a highly ranked prospect and it would be good to play him. Even if other, less high-upside players sit more so that he can play more.

The simplest answer is to bench Todd Frazier, move Headley to 3rd and play Austin at 1st.

6 I think the Yankees need to find out if Austin really can mash against LHP, Clint hit 160 over his last 40 ABs before getting hurt.  The Yankees only brought him up out of desperation after Fowler got hurt. They never thought he was ready.

It’s so nice when the other team is pasta diving.

Strong start for Gray, esp. right after the Yankees score.

Gray was due for a bad game. Maybe Girardo will continue his panic managing and go to the bullpen now?

11 Had to check score to see if that was sarcasm or not.

Was that his idea, the staffs or just some BS rationalization of why he didn’t hit at Trenton?

(13) you were unsure if people here are sarcastic? I am shocked.

[9]  Yeah that is the strange thing.  I believe he can be a major leaguer, but it’s a little weird to play him in a playoff run when he clearly needs more development.

Big game tonight with Garcia who hasn’t pitched in 2 weeks vs Archer tomorrow.

Strong recovery for Gray, esp. right after the Yankees hit into some bad luck.

Here it comes.

Robot umps don’t require face masks

They hit for a few games and now back to sleep, only winning last night on four hits because someone named Frazier hit a 3-run HR.

[7] Not when the AL East is still a possibility, and Tyler Austin is killing it against LHP’s.

21 Terrible call. AL East is a pipe dream when you can’t beat up on guys like Snell.

Hat trick and so it goes.  Yankee offense looks putrid.  Need a big error like last night.

I mean, that was going to happen at some point.

This kind of thing seems to happen too often to be coincidence. Low run-scoring environment. Neither team could score and neither team had Sandy Koufax pitching.

The offense in a shell Yankees back in form.

Based on how Sonny was going in the 1st inning, a 100 pitch CG is fine. They were never catching Boston anyway. And as long as Joe wises up and uses Luis in the WCG, can’t complain.

Why can the yankees not contain hechavarria?

[30] Because even a horrible player can have a few good ABs.

Suzie you really can predict go n baseball.  BTW without that error last night how much would we have scored?  A miracle 3 Saturday thanks to a HBP and a botched DP, 16 Sunday, a gift yesterday and this. Without Judge this offense ain’t squat.

Yeah, swinging at that 2-0 pitch is not a veteran decision, Bible bro

That was an impressive ninth.

Two games, seven hits, they managed to win one of those.

Now 15-25 in one run games. They just looked so feckless tonight.

Not to worry! Garcia-Day Wednesday.

Friday no runs last 6 innings, no hits last 5 1/3;  Saturday no runs for the first 7 innings then eked out 3 because of a blown DP; Sunday they.score 16;  Monday ONE earned run and tonight a missed shoestring catch away from being shut out. This offense should not be THIS bad. But maybe with Judge not very good any more they really are THIS bad.

The Rays relievers are good, just not that good. Snell is not good, neither are the Yankee hitters.

The Twinkies now closer to the Yankees thN the Yankees are to1st place and if the Halos win they will be as close.

Garcia starting tomorrow off a 2 week layoff. If they knew he was going to start why couldn’t they find two innings for him to pitch to stay sharp like instead of GreenThursday with a 7 run lead?

Big loss for the angels.

Betts is on fire, I remember not that long ago when we had a hitter on fire. Nobody really scares opposing pitcher now, Sanchez is the closest.

Two earned runs and seven hits in the last two games, another one run loss 15-25 and Yankees treating Gray worse than they treated Kuroda 5 of Gray’s 8 starts thy scored 1 or less. #sad.

I guess Judge misses Texas.

[4] Didn’t the 98 Yankees go 3-15 or something like that down the stretch?

Also the 2000 Yankees only won 87 games
