I predict this will devolve into a flat mound game by the fifth inning.
That gives us an advantage, no ?
Mathematics dictate a. 1-0 loss
On the plus side I won’t have to stay up late to watch this loss.
Go Jays. Dont know what happened to Lester but like, like, like.
[4] Fear not. He’ll get better by next weekend.
The big problem with facing this team is that you just can’t relax against hitters like Dewayne Wise and Chris Stewart.
Only way we could score.
The tide of fortune is leaving him.
Even Steven
Nobody I’d rather see up now
OK that (10) was intended as snark but this is better
I agree with holding baseclogger II Teix at 3rd.
Big hit by the rod.
Grandyman fattening his stats!
Disgraceful

C.C. Is doing a great job today finishing his pitches with snap at the end of his delivery. Following through quite well, locating, and getting ground balls.
[16] More ground balls, please. Fewer homers. Thanks.
Oh christ, Nix.
Fat chance we win this one.
Are we finished scoring?
Very sharp Eric.
At least we scored 3 or more.
CC should feast on shitty hitters like Brandon Inge. Instead they’re just eating into our lead.
I will never be confident in having a runner picked off into a rundown for the rest of my life. I see that now.
Mantle beat a rundown in the cancelled game 7 1960. Actually he was picked off, deke the 1b and dove back
Nobody I’d rather have up here.
Its official we lose 5-4
Is Jason Bay available?
Eat that, Reddick.
Chavez is awesome at third.
What’s Norberto doing with the fake Brian Wilson beard ?
Why is Jason Mantzoukas pitching for the A’s?
I guess having a hillbilly beard, smeared with boot polish is all the rage these days.
Here we go with the hat again.
Argh!
if I’d been able to stay up for the rest of this series I’d be pretty bummed out by now…
At least in the postseason when you can’t hit homeruns, the Yankee pitchers will be good, right?
Joba for teh ate, DRob to close.
Back and my only surprise is we haven’t lost…...yet.
Cespedes due up this inning, I think it’s safe to assume the game will end there.
Oakland is really good at one run games. We need a better one run strategy. Perhaps a special coach.
Dont you love these games where we score right away then rest on our laurels. Cheap speed.

Right now the Yankees are like that doomed character in the horror movie.
I would like to go on record and say that I don’t like the move of removing Phelps to bring in Clay Rapada here. And I’m not just saying this because Phelps is on my fantasy team.
Phelps is pretty stretched out now, isn’t he? I would’ve just left him in, tried to get more innings out of him. Not like the Yankees will be scoring any time soon, and he looks good.
42 nice metaphor
43 agree setting up Eppley/Qualls loss nicely
Couple more errors and we might be cooking.
Jeterian.
Gift trip to RISP land with no outs yields??
If this asshat bats Martin for Chavez, I will scream.
sigh.
We are starved for runs.
We suck. townies get swept but gain 1/2 game on us.

Game’s been brutal.
I kinda thought Phelps was in till the bitter end. Setting up nicely for Eppley loss.
I’m getting pretty close to screaming anyway.
43 agree setting up Eppley/Qualls loss nicely
Welp.
Blow up the team.
of course it’s crisp.
who’s ready to face felix?
I hate the West Coast.
Binder’s an effing idiot. They stretch out Phelps so they can turn him back into a short reliever!. Sure in the short term Rapada might have been smart nut looking more then one move ahead it was predictably hopeless.
Turns out sometimes you CAN predict baseball.
I was only half watching but when 43 posted I was astonished.
You would think with Joba on the verge of returning to the pen, they’d feel even more compelled to have Phelps as starter material and get him all the innings they could. Freddy is what he is, and Pettitte is no lock to return or stay, given that he’s like 70 years old or whatever.
[64] also because Phelps is striking out everybody and looking like he could get a spot in the rotation next year. Or at least a serious trade chip.
Me and Mrs. Filthy Hippie are, against our better judgement, going to Wednesday’s Super Nova game.
I’m adding this Monday morning as I didn’t get a chance to weigh in. Wondered last night if any of you were also questioning as I was the removal of Phelps? Reading above comforts me that many of you did. What again was the purpose of building him up for more innings. I wonder in the postgame whether Girardi was asked why he took him out. Also, why do you sit Jeter for a rest on a three game losing streak then go ahead and play him later? The other thing is why didn’t he hit for Nix the at bat before he took the field in the bottom of the inning? A manager can make a difference in four games lost by a single run and Girardi is slumping as much as our offense. This Cody Eppley has been lucky and games shouldn’t be handed over to him to lose. If Joe finally gets the message, maybe thats the only positive I see with the outcome.
I find it odd that the guy with the second highest K/9 and 3rd lowest WHIP on the team in the 7th most innings pitched is getting yanked around like a yo-yo. Especially when there will be openings in the rotation next season and beyond and the Yankees need all the help they can get to not have a $189 million sub-.500 team in 2014.
