Oakland seems like the kind of park that may help Mr. Hughes with his gopheritis. If he didn’t have such an awful lineup behind him I’d like his chances at a win.
Comments
Binder: I want you to kill every gopher on the course!
Hughesy: Check me if I’m wrong Coach, but if I kill all the golfers, they’re gonna lock me up and throw away the key…
The Oakland tv voices were saying Ces’pedes, accent on the first syllable, all “e"s short. I’ve been hearing the name in my head as Cespe’des, accent on the second syllable and a long “e” there. Anybody who speaks more than rudimentary Spanish pretending it’s Italian know?
TOR TV folk saying the Sox have used 43 players this year. What’s an average number of players for a team to use?
[2] I head-pronounced it like the Oakland TV guys.
I have a good feeling about Hughes tonight - feel free to blame me if it goes badly.
[3] My guess is that something around the 35 range is normal.
OMG, a line drive.
well, that sucked.
This broadcast team is enjoyable. Will make our sweep at the hands of Oakland slightly more palatable.
We’re going to die the Death of 1,000 Foul Balls tonite.
[8] Sweeps don’t hurt you unless they happen at home.
That was clearly an error.
Martin should be fined any time he takes the bat off his shoulder with runners on and fewer than 2 outs.
Cone is the best.
Inge’s picture looks like he’s 65.
Who is that attractive young lady doing the standup about Swisher?
[15] It’s better if you never learn their names.
[15] Kim Jones 2.0.
Wow. When the A’s retire your number, they don’t just put your number on a pizza tray and glue it to a wall, they take an entire seating section out of circulation.
Upside of having no fans who, you know, want tickets to your games.

Here come the Red Sox!
Signed,
A golf course
It’s a good thing we have all these lefties in the lineup to punish this righty.
Shockmaster getting it done.
Ibanez is useless, except when he’s not.
[20] Warm bodies are in short supply. Don’t be so picky. You think this team is made of money, has star players laying around looking for a game to get into ?
As usual, when I look here first and then at GD, I’m surprised to see that the Yankees are not actually losing (yet).
Sigh
And Phil’s pitch count is… good.
Hughes really is dedicated to homeruns killing rallies.
I’m still bitter we didn’t sign the cestipede
[28] I’m bitter we didn’t even try. I blame the Igawa experience.
[29] Cespedes and Darvish. Very irritating.
Oh no. WP moves Grandy into RISP for Cano. That’s as good as out.
I’m sorry, Pin, I didn’t mean to move him into RISP.
I thought he’d fixed that, but you were clearly on the mark…
Way to hang tough, Teix.
toronto anncrs told me it was good to swing at the first pitch. im confused.
There goes the townies
[35] Are they now mathematically eliminated ? Sweet !
4-3/3-2/2-1?/1-0??
Someone needs to hit a homerun to that kid already.
36 no one more game before they clinch.
Hughes looking good. now, runs please.
I’m watching on my phone in a movie theater waiting for Batman to start. What a country!
How about maybe we score some runs?
Prefer not to see blockbusters on Fri/Say night. I like half empty theaters.
Sigh
Brandon Inge? Really?
Well that was a shocker.
[42] Agree, I like to be able to get the nicer seats. And not deal with idiots.
aww fuck.
i like how hughes pointed to the sky after that was hit too. helpful to everyone, thanks.
[47] I haven’t been watching real close, but I think he does that on every pitch. You know, just out of habbit.
[40] Please be more specific when ordering runs. Thanks.
Besides that Mrs Lincoln how did Hughes pitch?
46 Stretch out and put your feet up. On July 4 I had people on either side of me neither my girlfriend.
[49] 4 hits and 2 walks over 7.2 IP. And one of the hits was a bloop in the 8th, also 2 of them were HRs. 6 Ks. So pretty well. If Hughes can ever figure out his HR problem, even to a slightly above average rate he’ll be very, very good.
That was embarrassingly bad.
it was the wifes idea
PATHETIC!! Not that it matters we ain’t scoring anyhow.
Oh for fuck’s sake.
53 role reversal?
Huh. Well, that about guarantees a highlight.
4-3; 3-2; 2-1 and tomorrow?
Hilarious that Crisp managed to get picked off again.
CT away!
Arod looking swift out there.
Keep the bat on your shoulder Tex
Alex needs to steal third and home before Jones can strike out.
oh ok, this is how we let the red sox back in it.
[47] I haven’t been watching real close, but I think he does that on every pitch. You know, just out of habbit.
This. It’s actually kind of funny.
I want the Yankees to score, just so Cano has a chance to extend his streak.
Impressive. Way to take advantage of lead off hit.
Yay Pythag preservation ! Yay QS !! Yay not getting swept at home !!!
Was anyone else surprised to see Girardi start the 8th with Hughes? I haven’t been watching that many games this year, so maybe the bullpen needs rest?
Good thing we’re not in the AL West.
Congratulations to Colon for outdueling CC 1-0 in an old fashioned pitchers duel.

Lost three straight. It happens.
Looking forward to the sweep tomorrow.

C.C. will spare us, hopefully.
