Comments
After tonight, Burnett is going to want to steal Thames’ glove.
also, I read a random comment somewhere that said the Yankees needed Cliff Lee because Burnett and Vazquez are replacement level pitchers. Why were they replacement level pitchers? because they have more losses than wins, of course.
This just isn’t right, having Thames in the OF.
Way not to waste time and get that first ground out under your belt, Jeter.
66.6% and climbing…..
Swisher’s AB was an attempt to compensate for Jeter’s AB.
So is this Bizarro Jeter? 4/80? Can’t refuse to bring him back.
At least there wasn’t a DP that inning.
I am glad to see A-Rod working on his terrible OBP.
Blame Canada!
Single, walk, walk, followed by strikeout looking and strikeout swinging. That’s some major WOE.
Jeter’s GB/FB ratio was 4.20 before the start of this game, a whole 1.13 higher than the second highest. I can’t imagine many players have ended a season with a GB/FB ratio higher than 3.5.
I would prefer some negative commemts. This sick optimism is scaring me. Please stop.
[10] Why hasn’t Gardner stolen home yet ? DFA.
Pena!
Captain Groundball up.
And way to go with the 4-6-3.
There’s a big fuckin’ surprise.
You have to try a double steal with Jeter up.
You know what’s going to happen if you don’t.
Just awesome, Jeter. Let’s get that GB% up to 90 and GB/FB up to 10.
Wow, that was unexpected.
It’s so frustrating watching captain groundball hit this year. He’s hitting 11% more GB than his career average. Do we have some explanation as to why? Or is it only a case of SSS that will correct itself in time? I sure hope so.
Thanks lads. Now I’m home. A-rod sucks and Mo is cooked.
Babe is fat and Cano is lazy!
Jeter should be in the home run derby. His swing needs to get screwed up.
OTF, the Stockyard Oatmeal is working nicely.
Good. Stay close to the toilet. Ya never know.
What would be the best way to get a player to cut down on DPs in a practical sense?
I assume it would include encouraging uppercut swings and taking pitches- even if it allows a strikeout. Anything else?
[23] Bat him leadoff.
Also, lotsa bunts.
[21] More info than we need pin, a whole lot more.
[23] HBP, on the wrist, seems to work in the past.
I’m pretty confident that scoring a run is possible this inning.
He didn’t get thrown out!
For us gameday guys- Was it a close play? Was there a play?
Probably should answer the second question first.
Swish: Close because the throw was to the base, but he beat the tag, could see it from outer space.
Alex strike 3: Not even close.
Wow. That wasn’t even close to the zone.
/confidence
The A’s scored that run rather easily, which makes all those missed opportunities by WOE already in this game rather pathetic.
How many free effing bases have the Yankees given opposing teams this year?
This stupid ass foul territory is truly disgraceful.
WOE geting in practice for Lee and King Felix.
1 run on 1 walk and 1 single.
0 runs on 2 walks and 4 hits (1 double). WOE.
What a shock. Another double play. WOE is unstoppable.
(33) a buck 380, pooma but i’m close
A Pena homer with Gardner on is WOE’s only hope tonight.
Gardner is a weapon.
Singleton: “I think the last guy on the Yankees you want to walk is Brett Gardner.”
Preposterous.
The last guy you want to walk is an automatic out. A team captain or similar ground-out machine. Gardner can hurt you in other ways, like hitting Grand Slams and such.
Pena hasn’t played enough to contract WOE.
Cano’s wolf powers are so strong, anyone can hit as the Yankees 2nd baseman.
Still clutch now and then…
SSS
At least it won’t affect the quest to a 10 to 1 GB ratio.
????
That didn’t suck!
Bandbox.
[49] You dance with the girl you came with.
I’m confused. Do we need to keep complaining?
Tex might have gotten his grove back.
What the heck happened to WOE while I was brushing my teeth? I thought I was safe being gone for a Groundball Machine AB.
Am I the only one who takes joy in seeing Joe Montana reduced to peddling gimick sneakers ?
I love how all of those runs came after the bases-clearing double play.
53- I dunno, it means he’s still being paid to sell things. There’s a lot of sports figures who don’t get that sort of clout.
Stupid Teix killed the rally.
Do we need to keep complaining?
Give it an inning or two, we’ll have reasons to complain again soon.
Burnett is doing fine. Granted, it is against a lineup where the only hitter ops >.800 is Coco Crisp.
.288 average? 2 home runs?
Is this the same Jack Cust that’s been on the A’s for the past couple years?
They really need to contract this league so that St Louis is the westernmost outpost of real ball. Alternative suggestion: every team west of the Mississippi becomes an NL squad (swapping rosters with an AL squad if need be)
[58] Don, I thought you usually posted under your own name.
60- Bringing back the Pacific League might not be a bad idea. I like the idea of a team called the San Francisco Seals.
Can’t they pinch hit Granderson now for Thames? It is a righty, and we may need the defense more than we can care about the offense.
GD updated, and I got my wish. Great.
Edit: Maybe not.
63- Joe, stop predicting your own actions.
Is that base regulation size or what?
Those moves look like a balk to me. Not that one can know what a balk really is, but they do feel like a it.
Singleton trying to work the hex.
Jeter grounded out? Who’d a thunk it?
Wolf bats. Keep using them, Swish.
Maybe Cano did actually bite Swish, Teix, and Alex.
Also, I am finding Flash strangely…unannoying.
Posada now in position to score easily on a triple.
Not Joba-proofed
holy shit? 99?
I guess we found the cure for Joba, he should pitch teh 9th!
edit: shit, spoke too soon
Shouldn’t the pitcher cover there?
the good news is, in this outting Joba’s FB was..
95:2
96:3
97:1
