The Yankees got me a come-from-behind win for my birthday, which was very nice of them. If they would be so kind, I’d appreciate a victory tonight, as well. With the way Dickey has been pitching and the way the Yanks seem to have trouble with crafty pitchers, well…it will be tough. Did you know that Teix and Dickey broke into the Majors for Texas in the same season (2003)? That’s pretty cool. Dickey, of course, was much older (although Teix does seem like he is 37 some games).

RISP Robbie @141 now.

congrats to dickey on his major league record third straight one-hitter.

Congrats to Dickey for his first perfect game

Dickey will only need 81 pitches for that perfecto.

Meanwhile, CC almost giving up a leadoff double to some guy I don’t know, so I will call him Timo Perez.

CC not looking real sharp.

“Personal Catcher” my ass.

I really feel like Dickey is going to no hit us

There goes the perfecto

This ump has Gameday flumoxed.

[9] The no-no is still intact.

There goes the nowalko.

There goes the no-no

That was their hit.

Yeah, hold Teix on a basehit because you want to maximize baserunners for Stewart’s power.

How do you not send Teix there?  How?

Shutout still in play, along with the CG win.

C.C. walks here.

Edit - and I didn’t even get a chance to finish writing that.

Hello NL.

Nice job Thomson. Leave it up to the back-up catcher and the pitcher to get a hit off the knuckleballer who doesn’t allow runs. Bonehead.

Tex should have been sent. Playing against Dickey, and with Stewart and the pitcher coming up, you have to take your chances.

We not only suck at hitting with RISP, we can’t score with RISP even with a hit.

I hate to say it, but that was some chicken baserunning.

CC’s command is off again.

Thomson is a fucking gluepot. Are you trying to clog up the bases for the powerhitters at the bottom of the lineup ? So CC has a shot at a GS ? WTF ?

I smell lotsa runs in the bottom of this frame.

What’s the most hits you can give up in 130 pitches and still not give up any runs ?

Plant one in Dickey’s ear, CC.

“He takes a lot of pride in swinging the bat.”

Both half innings end with the pitcher grounding out and stranding multiple runners on base. NL baseball, fantastic!

Did townies get much for useless?

[31] No. I think they got almost no return at all for a player who could be very productive.

I had to login just to complain about the hold of Tex

That’s two pickoff throws right to the spot. Grandy better be careful.

What the hell is wrong with their first base microphone?

Grandy not a threat to steal anymore.

Another hit! And another chance for RISPfail…

Scrappy Rodriguez.

Before this inning I was going to call a walk and a two-run homer - I’m already wrong.

.141 Cano coming up

They should hypnotize Cano to not see the runners.

And we’re boned again.

A run?

At least it wasn’t an RBI hit.

A run!

CG Win is still in play.

no Schilling, no Manny, no Tito, no Youk, no Papelbon….times are a changing.

the pitcher grounding out and stranding multiple runners on base

Corrupted, brainwashed by AL baseball, you are obviously simply incapable of seeing the delightful strategy involved in the circumstance you have described.

Swisher!

Ahhhhhhhhhh, swishalicious!

There’s your run CC. Better make it hold up.

Edit - clearly espn3 is a bit behind you folks, holy swisher!

[39] Wrong in a good way.

for a player who could be very productive.

It’s said like it’s in doubt and needs to be emphasized.
Wasn’t this one of the two major stars on one of the ML’s elite teams coming into the season? A future Beantown lifer?
How did his stock drop so far, so fast?

[1] That was Cano stepping on home just now.

[54] how did Ortiz put it…

I had to drop by to express first my anger at the RISPFAIL last inning and then delight at the RISPWIN in this one. Swish!

From what I understand, Mets fans hate Swisher. Glorious.

How did his stock drop so far, so fast?

The methods of a genius like Bobby V are not to be questioned, because they can’t be understood.

[58] I’ll bet they just love him, now.

[58] Townies fans aren’t huge fans of Swish either, if you remember SoSH earlier this season.

[54] “How did his stock drop so far, so fast?”

The WS are still paying his salary, I assume.

CC looking Hughes-esque with the pitch count.

Oh, for fuck’s sake.

Goddamnit, Torres was dead if that ball is caught.

Lazy fucker. Get the glove down.

3 hits & 4 runs… but Dickey can still be credited with a complete game no-hit perfect game, right?

I would like to have a catcher that can throw the ball all the way to second in the air. Is that too much to ask ?

What just happened?
Description for the GD blind, please?

Stewart had another runner dead to rights. Once again, he short-hopped it, and it ran into CF.

Thanks, Droops.
(Or is that Deputy Droops?)

It’s kind of a shame (although definitely logical) that updating your username affects all your posts, not just the most recent one…

Francona sounding a bit sour towards Manny.

Granderson tempting fate with RISP.

Cano up with RISP. Good time to take a leak.

Gardner would have caught that

[75]
Cano with the hit with RISP!
In true Yankee fashion, though.

Considering how bad they have been with RISP, the Yankees have done really well not scoring on hits with RISP.

Gardner would have caught that

For the other team? Perhaps we should reconsider bringing him back.
(I mean, since we get to decide that, right?)

[80] He’s that good of a fielder

[73] Future scholars will get around this via the Wayback Machine.

Both teams putting on a defensive clinic tonight.

If Swish gets a double here, does Thomson send Teix ?

Bubba, why would you trade your beer bottle for a spider?
(It’s probably a Dostoevsky reference.)

I guess we’ll never know.

[84]
Is Teix likely to score? If so, then the proper answer is “no.” If not, then it is “yes.”
The SCOUT is still a blinking moron.

Words of wisdom with Scout:

“R.A. Dickey may be running out of gas after 79 pitches. His fastball dropped from a high of 85 to as low as 79.”

“R.A. Dickey has plenty left in the tank…”

Also, I would not be a good court reporter, lost the rest of the quote.

[85] SG awardeth the beer bottle and SG taketh it away.

Was about to ask if Dickey bats this inning.

[88]
Treebeard, the best SCOUT insight was: “Dickey is still attacking Swisher with his knuckleball even though Swisher hit that pitch for a HR last AB.”
How surprising. Good point. Thank you, SCOUT.

How is that not a strikeout?

Oh, that’s why.

What’s the “on-field delay”?

That is fucking pathetic for him to score on that play. An absolute joke.

Could get ugly.  Bring in Eppley.

Phew, that coulda been alot worse.

So, Stewart is incapable of throwing the ball in the air to 2nd or catching it on plays at the plate. Good to know.

Dude stole my line, but Ibanez really did do an awesome job of waiting on that pitch.

Then Stewart screwed it up.

2 errors by a player in one game. It’s like Nunez never left.
