It would be nice if the Yankees could take this one after clearing their worst starter and before getting swept by the juggernaut Nationals. I’m not counting on it, but it’d be nice.
Comments
If Bryce Harper was a free agent at the end of this year, how much money would we give him?
75/1.6 billion
[1] “We” as us on this site? We would give him what SG says he projects to be worth over the next decade.
“We” meaning Cashman, Levine, and the Boss’ daughters? 30 years $1.2B with a player option at the end of each season, and a pony.
But… but… but I want to keep the pony!
Ted, you promised!
OMG consecutive hits w/ RISP for A-ROD. OMGOMGOMG
A-Rod should get a pony.
I presume this RISP you mention wasn’t how the run scored.
That stinks.

I really like the lineup. One thing that always bugged me was Torre’s use of the house money lineups with the first two in the books. It’s nice to rest some guys, sometimes, but it doesn’t all have to be done when you’re up 2-0. Sweeping rules. When the Facehuggers in Aliens have killed almost the entire crew of Ripley’s ship, they don’t leave the humans alone for later. They go for it.
Hopefully Girardi’s Yankees will be more like the Facehuggers (but also win big at the end, not just in the regular season).
Yes, I just saw Prometheus.
No spoilers!
That was strike three to Heyward. Too bad the ump was positioned off the plate causing him to miss it.

oh god, this stupid chant again. double play, please.
Now Heyward is on third instead of on the bench. Cool.
The Braves just bunted the bases loaded in front of the pitcher? Is gameday lying to me?
Nice. They Yankeed it up good.
Tom Hallion is awful. The first pitch to Bourn was more of a strike than the second.
The Bourne fallacy.
Where have all the Yankee fans gone long time passing?
Umps withholding the rain delay until the Kuroda meltdown is complete.
The Bourne failure.
[18] They apparently are not familiar with battling.
Braves offense corrodes with RISP tonight
sports.yahoo.com/mlb has started showing the run differential and associated data in their standings page, which is cool. I see that the RS are at +18, tied with the Rays.
Effing townies never lose
Oh, awesome. Thanks for the heads up, rilkefan! It was always a pain in the ass trying to find runs scored and runs allowed on yahoo. What a great change!
It is hilarious that the Orioles came into tonight’s game being outscored on the season. I somehow doubt that that bodes well for their future success.
WOE is back.
gah.
Game over.
only a matter of time
That was inevitable given all the runners he’s already put on.
I’m confident the Yanks can come back. Let’s go Yankees! Garcia for the win!
Not his best outing, still only 2 runs. The offense needs to step up
[22] Pretty sure you can get that on ESPN and MLB too—they’re options you can choose.
Jeter leads the league in hits and still has a below .800 OPS. (EDIT: .803 now)
Granderson!

wow, this team is getting fun to watch.
Sometimes, people call me The Grandyman.
Nice way to answer back. Yeah. Now, more runs please.
What’s the line? Tex is so cooked…
[39] something about a fork….
[39] Teix is totally fuckin’ cooked…
Phew. At least there’s still something to complain about.
Kuroder getting it done.
I’ll take this from Kuroda-ey every time out. Now insurance runs please.
Everybody on the team is cooked except Nixee
This is Chad Durbin. Baserunners are mandatory.
My man crush on R.A. Dickey continues. Tonight so far against Rays: 8 IP 1 H 0 R 12 K 0 BB. 32.2 consecutive scoreless innings now.
EDIT: Jinxed it. Dickey gives up the run in the bottom of the 9th, after an E-5, passed ball, passed ball, groundout. Typical Mets. Tonight’s performance ends as a complete game 1 hitter, one unearned run.
EDIT 2: And the one hit was a botched play by Wright in the 1st that could’ve been ruled an error.
[47] It’s hard to not root for someone who names his bat Hrunting.
Wild pitches in one run ballgames. Love it.
I’m sensing a walkoff loss tonight.
Back to back BB’s in one run ballgames. Love it.
No way. This is in the bag.
That cow chop freaks me out more then the concept of the NL does….
These Atlanta morons give white people a bad name with that goddamn tomahawk chop.
[53] Indeed. The cow chop makes me feel all icky. Coffee black please!
Call the game now.
Wise choice.
47 Wish Cash had signed Dickey. That would have insulated him from criticism.
Jeter needs to keep stepping out and fouling balls until they call the game.
That’s a horseshit strike call.
Jete was screwed.
Why do you call it a “cow chop”?
Run to the hills….
Suck it McCann.
That run on second sure would help my calm.
[62] Because while we lack robotic umpires, the Braves have a robotic bovine who leads the crowd in the tomahawk chop.
Huh!
With Grandy batting and a runner on 2nd, they have TWO RISP.
Strike 1 to Grandy was also horseshit.
Johngas…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZS6P3pQ6vs
I want Cano to crush Venters like the insect he is. Remember Mark Wohlers!
[70] Chrissake. And it’s an ad, too.
Oh well. Chances are they won’t wish they scored that run. Right?
[73] No, now they’ll let Atlanta score 2, take the lead, then call the game.
Pretty unfair that the Townies have the pleasure of playing the Cubs this year.
Where is Wade?
[75] Are they considered natural rivals from all the years neither could win a Series ?
Why aren’t the Indians and Braves considered natural rivals ?
Why would you send a PH in to bunt ? Can’t the pitcher do that as well or better ?
What kind of dirt does Eppley have on Gioardio?
Wade and/or Soriano are not available
Figures this happens the day before Robertson comes back.
Goodbye wheels. Sorry yiz fell off.
Why aren’t the Indians and Braves considered natural rivals ?
They both signed the Treaty of Canandaigua.
[78] Maybe an RP doesn’t even get to do that much.
Sorry dubs.
Fucking awesome.
Braves playing Yankee style.l
I fucking told you guys. In the bag.
That’s astonishing. The only explanation is the AA theory.
Is Phelps available to close this out ?
Braves were Townies natural rival. Original Boston/still Boston.
Uggla is such an…inelegant name.
That was weird.
Kimbrel looks like he’s vulning.
[94] Last time I saw someone standing in that posture, he was elbow deep in the south end of a northbound cow.
I’m not sure it’s considered striking out the side when you have a ground out and a batter reaches on a strikeout + wild pitch, Michael.
[95] You sure he wasn’t HEAD-deep?
PREPARE TO GENUFLECT!
or not.
As Lawrence Welk said a one and a two and a three. Never mind.
[98]
I hope I’m not going to have to be preparing too much longer, OTF.
