Can I go on the record as saying interleague play is a nonsensical farce that should be excised from MLB post-haste?

Here’s a question, is Nova a worse hitter than Ibanez is a defensive LF?  Weather permitting, we don’t have to ponder it, because we’ll get to see both!

Normally a 7-2 record with a 5.09 ERA means a pitcher’s been really lucky.  In this case I think it’s the opposite.

Lastly, did you know that the last season the Yankees played a regular season series in Hotlanta, they ended up winning the World Series?

Lastly, did you know that the last season the Yankees played a regular season series in Hotlanta, they ended up winning the World Series?

And they struggled mightily to start that season, then ARod showed up and rejuvenated the team. Too bad ARod isn’t going to show up this season.

Do we dodge Beachy and Hanson?  Does Selig know this?

[2] I’d rather face the best pitchers from each team. Seems to keep the lineup locked in. Or at least, it isn’t as annoying when they get shutout and strand 12 men on base.

I went to that 2009 series in Atlanta. Did you know they have a massive parking lot right next to Turner Field exclusively for Lexus automobiles? Pretty awesome display of New South wealth actually.

EDIT: I’m pretty buzzed.

I am annoyed that the game that Tampa Bay gets Dickey is the same game Price is pitching. Price is going to dominate that Mets lineup.

I’m happy we dodgdd Dickey because after he dominated us then we’d have an excuse when the next guy did also that the knuckler messed us up.

Want to know my favorite thing about interleague play?

Pitchers hitting.

Wait, no, that’s the opposite of my favorite thing.

Gary. Denbo. Now.

then ARod showed up and rejuvenated the team. Too bad ARod isn’t going to show up this season.

A-Rod shows his displeasure with that comment.

[9] if that’s all it takes ...

[9] Too bad ARod from 2009 and before would have hit a HR to stick it to me, but now he only has warning track power. Either way, congrats to our $30M singles hitter for actually getting an XBH!

Garth Brooks is the Braves’ manager?

WTF is going on? A hit with a RISP and 2 outs? Is this what it would be like if they got to play in the NL all the time?

Ah, that’s more like it. Teix hits it right at somebody.

I thought that was gone

Nice turn on that by Cano. And maybe Nova is due to have a few flyballs actually stay IN the park.

Yeah, Ibanez won’t make it past the All-Star break….

Iganez!

[17] Does it count as not on the team if he ends up on the 60 day DL? If so, he still might not make it past the ASB as any Yankee who even gets a hangnail is likely to miss the rest of the season with the Yankees’ physicians allowed to work on them.

Nova singles to clear the pitcher spot next inning

edit: double post

Nova should PH in RISP situations

And season ending injury on the basepaths in 5…4…3…2…

Edit - way to be, Captain! Keep Nova safe.

Please score one run.

Swisher has the lowest OPS and wOBA of the team

Turned on the game just in time to see bases loaded futility.

All you could hope for

This bases loaded suckfest has gone on way too long.  Hopefully Swisher doesn’t walk here to reload them.

[24] And people are worried about replacing him. Just signed some washed up Iguana and you can replace that lack of production.

Swisher walked? You have to be kidding me

I’m shocked that Swisher managed anything other than a K there, never mind a walk.

I asked for a run, so I can’t complain.

The bases loaded comedy continues.

[23] You should have asked for more.

[31] I am often surprised Swisher is able to remember they have a game, find his way to the stadium, put on his uniform correctly, and make it onto the field.

What a disgraceful bunch of assclowns. Only scored bc of a wild pitch.

The walk (with or without the WP) is a fine way to score with the bases loaded without ruining their stats.

[29] Swisher is an easy goodbye for the Yankees. Just offer arbitration and take the picks.

[38] I just wish they could do that before his next AB instead of waiting until he goes 0 for October.

[38] “qualified offer” or whatever the hell it’s called now, which I believe is 1 year 12.5MM.

Nice stab by Nova.

Nice pick by Teix to make it 2 outs no one on instead of 1 out and a RISP, although the call was yet another gift.

Good Nova. Now hit one out please

My captain my captain.

Rare groundout for jeter

Jeter with a sub .800 OPS for the first time of the season. That was expected

It must be fun to have your team call up positional players from the minors and have them be competent players. Meanwhile, Nun-E.

What will ARod do in this AB:
a) NOT hit a HR
b) NOT hit a HR
C) NOT hit a HR
d) NOT hit a HR

Oh A-Rod. These next few years are going to be painful.

[49] On the plus side, he isn’t going to reach ANY of the HR milestones, so Austerity2k14 isn’t affected.

Well, maybe he can crawl to 660 HR since he needs 22 HR over the next 5 and a half seasons. 4 HR per season sounds about right.

Oh good, Adam Sandler has a new movie. Just found what was missing from my life.

It’s too bad Bourn doesn’t play for the Yankees, I think we all know what Serling would do for the HR calls.

Ok, so he’s not completely useless

That was gone if not for Swish!

Tbat was awesome Swisher!

Nice turn on that by Cano. And maybe Nova is due to have a few flyballs actually stay IN the park.

Barely. But it stayed IN the park.

Nova’s a little off this inning

[58] Nice to have the defense picking him up though. Yesterday when BattleCat was a little off for one inning, the defense made things even worse.

Martin has made 3 outs on 6 pitches tonight

Becky Hempnecklace got touched up again early on for TWN.

Chipper Jones is still good at baseball

[60] Don’t worry, he told Kay he is feeling dangerous at the plate again.

I tried the Braves radio feed today.  It lasted 30 seconds.  They were ranting about how Bonds didn’t really have the HR record, and A-Rod wouldn’t really pass Aaron, but if he did, people would be really angry including them, etc.

Also, the phone number for the mesothelioma law people—1-800 MESO LAW— always makes me think “Me so law.  Me sue you long time.”

Nova’s command tonight is terrible.

The devils certainly fucked the dog early.

I just flipped over to the game and my initial reaction was: “Wait, why is the first-base coach way over in the basepaths like tha—holy shit, that’s Chipper Jones.”

I thought Ibanez wasn’t going to catch that flyball. It’s time to trade for an OF or at least replace Wise with Dickerson.

Too bad they did not hold on Maxwell, who’s having a very good season in Houston.  The second lefty in the pen cost the Yankees a very good outfielder.

Some good battlin tonight but I have a feeling they’re going to regret stranding all those runners

Good Nova

Ted 51 Adam Sandler was once in a good movie Punch Drunk Love

Grounder to RF

This would be a good time to get that average back over .250 Grandy.

Grandy is the best .250 hitter ever.

Jeter’s got to try to score on that single

This would be a good time to get that slugging back over .431 A-Rod.

Need some runs to save the pen a bit

First and third one out.  We’ll score at least one.  Guaranteed.

Was that the most predictable GDP ever (non-Jeter division)?

This got old weeks ago.

[73] how about the exact opposite?

Never mind I was a comment or two late.

[71] That’s on the director, not Sandler. We all know that.

I picked a bad day to give up crank, it only makes me issue silly guarantees.

82 you’re right despite AS.

How the hell was that third pitch to Bourn NOT a strike?

Our RISP % defies mathematics sort of like reverse Dimaggio streak.  You couldn’t run enough simulations to mimic our result.

Soriano warming?  Has he been demoted?

Haven’t noticed that Tex was hitting much better from the left side this season

Where’s the shift there? I know there’s a runner on first but still can shift him

Nice effen catch!

Maybe they’re cursed.

Swisher has walked twice tonight!

Ooo, when Kay is making bases loaded snark at you, you know you’ve really hit bottom.

This game really should be a blowout.

[79] Nope.

Shocking. Positively shocking.

Unbelievable.  So effing pathetic.

You have to be shitting me.

Pathetic.

Hilarious! Simply hilarious.
