Halladay.
Wow.
7 hits, 0 walks, 8 SO, complete game, 111 pitches.
[301] Halladay may ultimately decide that the NL doesn’t present a sufficient challenge…
On the flip side, I was kind of surprised that Santana appeared to struggle v. the Nats.
John Crook in a rare moment of clarity (on Miguel Cabrera):
“He made some lifestyle changes. That lifestyle wears you down as the season goes on. Believe me, I know.”
[301] So which start was better? his opening day or this one? Hard to choose.
Wait, Joe Morgan actually thinks that the games are longer because hitters take borderline pitches with two strikes. So, in effect, he is blaming the longer games on the hitters actually getting better at pitch recognition, and thereby becoming better hitters. So his idea to shorten the game would be to force hitters to get worse. That is a genuinely counter-revolutionary idea.
“Two-strikes: you’re out” would be an efficient way to make hitters worse.
One game out of first behind the Blue Jays! Sweet.
When will GoHalos preview the upcoming series????
No complaint thread??? WTF?
My goodness gracious, The Pacific was Mo reffic this evening.
[305] I think what he was trying to say is that those pitches used to be called strikes more often than not. Or to put it more succinctly, games are longer because the strike zone is smaller.
Question: For purposes of UZR/ZR the ball that Granderson clearly caught that was ruled a trap is not tallied as a catch, or is there some kind of reality adjustment that supersedes missed calls by umpires?
Due to my kickball season opener, I had to watch the condensed game on mlb(dot)tv. Gotta say, I really dig the condensed game feature. 10 minutes, showed me everything important, and got to be utterly confused why a pop-up lead to the ball landing in a random spot in the infield and then players pointing to the sky.
Anyways, it’s pretty ridiculous there was even a discussion about catwalks in regards to a Major Frickin’ League Baseball Freakin’ Stadium.
Also, “Yankees go 4-2 on road against 2nd and 3rd best teams in baseball. Let’s see how they do against the best.”

As best I can tell, UZR lacks a reality adjustment. It would be a lot of effort for <1 out per fielder per year.
Ted- for those of us living outside of the USA (7 hour time difference) the condensed games were the greatest thing ever invented. We were able to watch 100’s of games a year in 12-20 minutes each, going to sleep without knowing the result and waking up and watching the game. Every out, every pitch that finised an at bat, every steal. Nirvana.
however why leave well enough alone…? that ten minute version is no more than a glorified highlight reel. They have even taken to showing strikeouts from three different camera angles.
And I also like watching grass grow.
We are yearning for the good ol’ days here. hopefully MLB.TV will repent soon….
We are still hoping
