Comments
OTF, at least two of us posted that repeatedly, arguing with yankz (or, actually, trying to calm him down), all yesterday.
I think you are confused about when the discussion went from instant to abstract, but then again I’m not going to reread it to check.
OK, I wasn’t annoyed at any of you (save SAS, but that’s mostly because he started the recent “complaining” about what other people comment and what SG was writing)...I really was perfectly calm, though I guess it didn’t appear that way. In fact, I think I have been less emotional than everyone else here.
I didn’t want to say this because people were obviously sad about it and I didn’t want to seem insensitive. I’m sad too, but if this is the end of Mo’s career, I don’t think anyone can complain too much. He won 5 rings, is considered the best ever at his position, and made enough money so that his grandchildren will never have to work. Going out on a freak injury doesn’t taint or change any of that. I almost feel worse for a guy like Pineda, who is sitting at home wondering if he’ll ever get the chance to experience any of that. All the people saying that he should get to leave by striking out the last guy in the last inning of the World Series are just asking for another fairy tale, when we (the fans and Mo) have already experienced and enjoyed more fairy tales than is realistic or fair to ever expect.
