Yankees (1-4) @ Orioles (4-0), Sunday, 4/9/2017, 01:35p ET

Yankees: CC Sabathia (L): (NR) vs. Orioles: Wade Miley (L): (NR)

1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Chris Carter (R) 1B
5. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
6. Chase Headley (S) 3B
7. Aaron Judge (R) RF
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS

1. Craig Gentry (R) LF
2. Adam Jones (R) CF
3. Manny Machado (R) 3B
4. Mark Trumbo (R) RF
5. Chris Davis (L) 1B
6. Trey Mancini (R) DH
7. Jonathan Schoop (R) 2B
8. J.J. Hardy (R) SS
9. Caleb Joseph (R) C

A loss today puts the Yankees at 1-5.  Add in the injury to Gary Sanchez and the news about James Kaprielian possibly needing Tommy John surgery, this has been a pretty crappy start to the 2017 season.

Gary tweeted that his bicep feels better today. Hoping for the best. Only a DL stint. Its been a rough, rough start with Tanaka not having it, Sanchez getting injured… the news on Kaprielian isn’t shocking but still pretty disappointing. Certainly makes getting pitching prospects for McCann look better. (also getting Zack Littell)

Protected pick! Protected pick!

Remember when Sam Militello was going to be our next ace? Than some kid named Andy Pettite showed up out of nowwhere. We should probably get comfortable with the fact that the Yankees are not immune to growing pains when turning a roster over to new kids.

Kap is headed to meet with ElAttrache. Pretty sure TJ is happening.

So much for Miley’s first inning struggles.

At least the last few years we got some cheap thrills this season I fear will be a disaster start to finish.

Game over.

It’s all over, party’s over.

CC gives up two runs while not allowing a single hard hit ball. Yay.

[6] yes but I don’t know what’s better. I don’t want to spend too much time watching this shity team again
I am depressed when I realize how many hours I’ve spent watching yankee baseball

Turns out that spring training record does not mean anything.

No shame in getting no hit by one of the finest LHPs of this generation.

Hey ! Calm down. It’s only the fourth inning.

We should be able to scratch together a hit or two in the next 5 innings. Almost certainly.

They’ll pull Miley after 6 or 7 and we can beat up on their pen.

Man, on the replay it becomes much clearer how close Castro came to fucking that up.

TJ and that’s it for Kap as the Yankees have a poor track record with guys who have had TJ.

[6] When Gleyber comes up.

See ? SEE ??!!

Carter has checked off two true outcomes. Time for the third.

Man, 7 walks and nothing to show for it ? That’s a lot of baserunners.

Andújar 4-4 2 HR and one 3B. A double away from the cycle

You can just go ahead and get hits with guys on third like that? That’s allowed?

[22] Selig Rule.

Wow. Outside of Fenway, I can’t recall seeing a ball hitting the wall on the fly (or close enough) ending up as a single.

Is Torreyes our best player?

Who needs Sanchez when you’ve got Torreyes?

Torreyes delivers, again?

Torreyes: First HR, first triple, first CT.

27 But not yesterday

He leads the Yankees in RBI and HRs.

Mateo 4-5, all singles, 2 SB’s.

Andujar & Mateo will help me cope with this impending heartbreaker.

Castro avoids the wrath of RLYW today.

2-160 here we come.

Fowler w/2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s so far in the second game.

Frazier 2-5 with 2 BB’s and no K’s so far in the twin-bill.

Good win. Not for the Yankees as much as for the fans. 2-4 is the same record the 1998 Yankees had after 6 games, so that proves mathematically that we are going to win the WS.

Who had the Yankees at 2-4 with the 2 wins coming in CCs games?

I wonder if anyone ever said this but you can’t predict baseball.

Is 5 walks in a game (Holliday) a Yankee record?’

[40] Looks like the 7th time, the last one in 1945 by Hersh Martin.

Will Didi get Torreyesed?

Wouldn’t Castro have to be the odd man out?

43 For sure but never happen.

Rutherford with 2 dbls and 2 RBI’s so far today.

Make that 3 dbls so far for Rutherford.

[43]  Yeah, the analogy is just cleaner if it’s Didi.  Thanks for ruining my joke with LOGIC.  smile

If they are only going to win CC’s starts this season, it’s going to be a long season. On the plus side, protected pick.
