Remember our win probability exercise yesterday?  It now says .230 (.250 adjusted for home field disadvantage) + .500 - 1.020 (adjusted for home field advantage) = -.290.

So the Yankees will theoretically get three losses today.

Is it too soon to start selling?

I understand wanting to get Carter consecutive days of AB’s with Miley pitching tomorrow, and to keep him relatively fresh, but honestly it has to be a concern that Girardi could be worried about keeping his job while developing the young guys… it may be argued that you really can’t do both at the same time.

never mind me, Bird has a sore ankle. Which could explain why he looked so out of sorts last night.

I posted about Bird’s ankle a few days ago.

Bryan Hoch - Greg Bird had his right ankle heavily iced. Said he fouled a ball off it last week in Clearwater

Crackhead medical staff alert.

Worst medical staff money can buy.

Effing idiotic Apple, tried to log in to my work iTunes account but couldn’t, password and user were OK but couldn’t log in and no prompt or error message.  Turns out now that I have an IPad I have two stage verification which could be corrected if only moronic Apple had given me a prompt.

Gaussman searching for command.  Yankees strand 2.

[6] Sanchez really bailed him out with that pop-up. I don’t think he was wrong to swing, just a very unfortunate result.

Hixie’s COT status is on lockdown.

Gleyber 2/4 with a double.

Good throw by Sanchez. Terrible non-tag by Castro.

When Didi’s back move Torreyes to 2B/  Never happen.

Tanaka self destructing.

Tanaka’s inning wan’t terrible.  Castro shoulda kept the tag on, the RBI hit was a looper.

Well, for those of you pining for Higashioka…

I stepped away for a moment. WTF? what happened?

Looked like he strained an arm muscle on a foul ball.  Maybe triceps?

Why not?

game 5: No bird, no sanchez.

game 5: No bird, no sanchez.

Kay says it’s a “right bicep strain.”

[22] Not terrible, but not good. 2+ weeks probably.

I’m starting to agree with bop, Tanaka doesn’t have it today.  Two hit batters?

Good grief.  Get him outta there.

This is the arm falling off, isn’t it?

Well, he just threw 97, maybe not.

We are not allowed shiny things.

Hurting your arm swinging? DL him for safety’s sake.

BTW, odds of tack-on-runs?

[27] It’s a pretty easy decision with the 10 day DL.

Karp, Bird and Gary.

That worked well.

Lights out pen!

I know (?) it can’t be this bad all year, but fuck does this team suck.

They did a bang up job teaching Betances to hold runners. Bang up!

Warren should get a chance to start.

These losses are so cruel that it just can’t keep up.

Putting in Layne was certainly defensible and formulaic but I might’ve gone to Betances and Chapman neither exactly overworked for the last 2 2/3.

Four runs though five then squat.  Seems like a theme.

Really, while it isn’t all Girardo’s fault, who keeps a manager around for ten seasons? Girardo needed to go for a while now.

So yet again the run-scoring stops after 5 innings. Tiresome, boring, a change of culture is needed, and that starts with the manager.

And clown-city with the Byrd injury, which occurred over a week ago,  so they play him 4 games, then realize that today and tomorrow he needs to rest the ankle. Bizarre organization. Broken bone diagnosis to follow ala Texiera?

Meh. 1-4. Young team, hitting the road against division rivals. I can live with a 1-5 start. Not optimal but certainly not terrible. The bullpen, their strength, hasn’t. Young hitters still not hitting or injured. If you’re gonna suck, suck in April. Yankees fans should be rooting for incremental improvements in performance from month to month.

Yeah, yeah, and they handled the Byrd injury stupidly, and let’s see how they deal with the Sanchez injury.

We all know the starting pitching is very spotty, and that this team ain’t winning a WS. That is not the point.

Girardo needs to go. Who gets 10 years? Managers are hired to be fired, the team needs a change of culture.

Didi best player on the team last year on DL. Gary best player this year on DL. Bird big power prospect hurt. Karp best pitching prospect on DL.

Girardo does not know how to use a bullpen that has long guys in it. He treats every RP like a one inning guy. I hate that.

[41] It’s smart, actually. It contrasts with the strategy of leaving a guy in until they figure him out, or he loses it. It also means bullpen guys can play again without being unavailable for as many days.

What bugs you about it ?

This team should project to finish below the .500 for the first time in a long time. So I am certain they will try to be sellers again and Girardi won’t come back. It’s still early, but being 1-4 and without their two best players is not looking any good. I bet this will be at last a losing season, but maybe that’s what this FO needs, they need to realize that they don’t even building a pretender and that fans want a champion caliber team.

I want them to sell everything they can and try to sign elite FA the next two offseasons.

Players like Headley, Gardner, Tanaka and maybe even CC and Pineda could have trade value at the deadline. You can’t have enough lottery tickets in the minors.

I am confident that the Yankees farm products are going to magically be better than every other teams farm products.

You see what the Yankees are doing now is sustainable! It’s building a championship like they use to when they’d randomly draft hall of famers and definitely not going to result in 2 championships every 60 years like it will certainly result in.

This is a little weird.  I did not expect them to be good, but Tanaka shitting the bed twice and the bullpen blowing leads was not how I expected them to be bad.

46 Looking ahead let me count the ways.

Guys. I’m sad about the Yankees.

[48] Yup.  All that excitement about the start of baseball season pretty much vanished in three days.  Sigh…
