Yankees.com: Yanks overpower A’s behind Tex’s two homers

The Yankees came out swinging again on Saturday for their fourth straight win, with Mark Teixeira slugging two homers and Robinson Cano adding one to pace a 9-2 victory over the Athletics at O.co Coliseum.

New York utilized an aggressive approach against former teammate Bartolo Colon, knowing the hurler’s reputation for being around the strike zone, and tagged the righty for six runs in six innings.

With about 150 friends and family members in the stands, local product CC Sabathia won for the first time in three starts, holding the Athletics to two runs in seven innings.

Cano started the support against Colon with a long second-inning home run, his seventh, and Derek Jeter laced a run-scoring single in the third inning for his 3,153rd career hit, passing Paul Waner for sole possession of 15th place on the all-time list.

The real key to see how bad Oakland’s lineup is (especially playing in Oakland) is if Kuroda can hold them to just 3 runs in the first inning tomorrow. The Yankees lineup when either Teix or A-Rod is hot versus the Yankees lineup when they are both slumping is like night and day. Hopefully Teix keeps it up.
