Yankees.com: Tex, Yanks go extra mile to win eighth straight
WASHINGTON—Mark Teixeira drilled a two-run double to right field to put the Yankees ahead in the top of the 14th inning, providing the go-ahead blow before Rafael Soriano locked down a 5-3 victory over the Nationals on Saturday.
Freddy Garcia stranded the winning run at third base in the 13th, and after proceeding without a hit from the sixth inning on, Jayson Nix and Derek Jeter opened the 14th with consecutive knocks off Brad Lidge.
Seriously, reading this paragraph makes my head hurt. Mark Teixiera, who we all know stinks, drove in the winning run for Freddy Garcia, who we all know stinks, setting up the save for Rafael Soriano who we all know stinks, and the Yankees who we all know stink and are old and tired, beat the Nationals who we all know are young and fresh and exciting?
Whould’ve thunk it?

The Yankees have the second best record in baseball. The pitching has been excellent. I’m still confounded by the RISP thing. But as Lucille Ball once said, don’t fuck with success.
Jeff Samadrx;ozioi is not a good pitcher. I suppose the Cubs don’t really care though.
So if the Yankees want to win games without hitting a HR, they need to go 14 innings. Good to know.
Also, things I learned in the last game thread:
-Bebop’s oven has become self-aware
-Trump Towers may, or may not have basement apartments.
It’s too bad Brett Pedroia is not Jon Lester’s brother. Then we could call him “mo” Lester.
Do you get it?
This game was agonizing to sit through at the ballpark. But all’s well that ends well i guess.
Funny thing, this was the first time in 3 years I’ve seen a particular friend who is also a TWN fan. Last time? 2009, at the RS series in YS3 where ARod won it with a 15th inning jack off Junichi Tazawa. This guy is the extra innings luck dragon.
Alfonso Soriano just flat lazed the Cubs out of an inning. I do not regret the Yankees trading him away.
This was funny:

Still, the guy should have a ring and his Game 7 HR would have been a big reason why. If only Torre had played the middle infield at DP depth, he would have had a decent shot.
[8] Yes, yes. I remember saying at the time that I hate playing the infield in.
Nice backheel goal by England today. Is there statistical analysis is soccer?
ETA: Google sez, no.
3: a sub basement. They let me out for Yom Kippur and Christmas. Quite ecumenical. I’m hoping for Ramadan.
I shouldn’t have bought a H(otpoint) A(auto) L(ogin) model.
Come on, Cubbies. Lester is fading.
The townies never lose
And now that Mo is down Aceves is the best closer; 17 saves!
Lincecum must be hurt.
Firstly, by way of a disclaimer, I haven’t been a denizen of the Tri-State Ford Dealership region since…eh…well, before Ed Koch’s last successful reelection bid.
The above having been secondly stipulated to, I was honestly of the conception that Trump already in fact owned all the basement square footage in the aforementioned dealership regionhood.
Thirdly, I thought all the beatniks in the village were into absinthe and laudanum and such.
Finally, without looking it up, for which I am too lazy, ovens generally come in two denominations: gas and lectric. I have a lifestyle thing about messing with gas plumbing which can exploderate at any moment, but generally after you’ve stopped paying attention and think everything is safe, then kerflooey !
OTOH, the electricity in these things is usually something like 219, 220 - whatever it takes. As such, there are special circuit considerations in terms of connectors - the usual wirenuts used to hang a lamp fixture from Ikea are insufficient. Now, I would expect either variant to have perhaps a fuse built in that might need to be reset if something is amiss with the connection, but only after whatever set it off is corrected. In any case, both are jobs for professionals. The alternative is a spectrum of fires ranging from bad to really really really bad, depending on how many floors are situated directly above the basement.
If it turns out to be something minor, you’ll sleep better anyway.
Pardon me, where do I find the Complaint thread?
[17] We’ve had done with all that.
Unless you’d like to complain about your home appliances…
Bop, I have an 18 yo hotpoint gas range/oven. It’s performance has been pretty close to flawless. Slight issues with the baking temps but I don’t expect it to cook a 22 lb. turkey as evenly as a tray of brownies.
Pin, as a former USN Boiler Tech I can assure you, teflon tape can cure every fitting issue.
I want to complain about Aceves not blowing the save
I just fixed a pair of kid’s sunglasses with a bit of stiff insulated wire and some duco cement (I hope). Those are even more useful than duct tape in my experience.
If you were involved with this play, you should probably take the rest of the summer off.
I had one of those!

You should have googled “statistical analysis football”.
No one who calls the sport “soccer” cares enough about it to do any analysis.
Wise (in this) people, those who call it “soccer.”
