Yankees.com: Solid Phelps given little help in losing effort
Rookie right-hander David Phelps went unrewarded for a quality start as the Yankees continue to patch their rotation without the services of ace CC Sabathia, who expects to return from the disabled list on Friday against the Indians in Cleveland.
Phelps limited the Red Sox to three runs over 6 2/3 innings, marking the deepest he has pitched in his five big league starts to date.
DFA everyone. Except Phelps.

Grandy and Swish can stay too. For now.
OK if TB wins this I concede.
Phelps. Wow. He is great.
By the way, with the Rays down 8-0, it looks pretty safe for the Yankees that they’ll maintain a six game lead. Now they just need Kuroda to kick some ass tomorrow.
Also, it is so silly, but I was really hoping Pujols’ 30 homer streak would end this year. He’s almost up to A-Rod’s streak.
[3] Umm…
Holy shit shoulda kept quiet.
Yeah, wow. Fucking Tampa Bay.
They’ve now erased an eight run deficit and are now up 10-8. In all seriousness, they might just deserve to win the AL East.
The effing halos eff us every chance they get.
Silver lining: a postseason sans Angels is more Yankee friendly, no?
I like that the Angels got the tying run to second base in the ninth with one out just for the extra CT.
Hope we don’t face too many lefties in the coming weeks.
Melky can’t be serious right now. Can’t be. Doesn’t this whole mess fall on MLB? It all started with Braun. What a joke.

Sounds like MI 5 with Tom Cruise as Melky.
[13] - More like Get Smart…
Or get stupid. Maybe Melky shoulda hired the guy from Burn Notice.
Good lord is that article real?

Melky clearly didn’t watch ‘Shattered Glass,’ or he never would have tried a stunt like that.
[16] The whole website where the article appeared was faked by Cashman to drive Melky’s FA price down.
I’m pretty sure we will soon see an explanation for why this is all A-rod’s fault.
Has anyone else noticed the drop off in Cano’s production since Melky’s fall from greatness ?
Mighty Casey at DH vs RHP tonight.
The more I hear about this, the more I love everything about the Melky (phony website) story. Of course if I were a Giants fan I’d be mad as hell. But I’m not so…*points and laughs*
Was at the Padres-Giants game here in SD last night, and being San Diego, the stadium was at least half Giants fans. Things got rather douchey, surprisingly. I guess I expected more from Giants fans, but I guess Giants fans living in SD probably have been infected by the general-douchiness here. In any case, a few chants of Melky-Cabrera and tainted-season shut them up pretty well.
I hadn’t really been paying attention, but Holy Crap Posey is having a monster year
Also, I find this article very interesting.
Discuss.
[23] check out his numbers post all star break.
I’m scared of the Rays but damn if I am not enjoying LAAAAAAAAofA’s run of fail.
Hate the townies, rangers and mutts far more and fear the rays.
Mostly fear perennial Cy Young candidate overpowering us tonight while our Dodger reject is not up to the powerful townie offense.
While playing the game the right way, of course. Better be careful that the ball doesn’t slip out of his chicken grease-covered fingers.
Brush with fame story from yesterday on the golf course. Lady says to me “I like your (Yankees) hat.”
Me: “Who doesn’t ?”
Her: “My grandfather played for the Yankees, just for a few years. He wasn’t very famous, but he did play for them.”
So I’m thinking in my head, probably somebody in the 50’s, not a star, maybe like Joe DeMaestri or something.
Me: “Oh really ? That’s cool. What’s his name ?”
Her: “His name was Joe DeMaestri.”
Me: “Yeah, I’ve heard of him. Played second base ? Maybe Shortstop ?”
Her: “Wow, you really have heard of him.”
Me: “Yeah, sure. I recognize the name. I don’t remember much about his career, but I know he was a Yankee.”
Then I hear myself saying “Does he live in this area ?” and my heart stops while I’m thinking, I hope he’s still alive, or at least didn’t just die.
Her: “Oh, he lives down in the Bay Area where he grew up.”
Whew.
Me: “Well tell him he’s remembered.”
[16] I read it on ESPN thinking it was a joke. Bizarro-time. Should have hired a better web developer?
Pin, did you get her number at least?
{30) That is awesome. Did I ever tell you about the time I met a drunken daughter of Jimmy Piersall? The Yankees won.
