The Curse of Jerry Hairston, Jr./Eric Hinske:

Friday, May 12, 2017 Offense unable to get on track vs. Astros

Over the last three seasons, no one has hit more home runs to right field at Yankee Stadium than Brian McCann. The famed short porch has been kind to the left-handed-hitting slugger, who visited one of his favorite New York attractions with a three-run shot in the Astros’ 5-1 victory over the Yankees on Friday.

McCann’s sixth home run of the season produced an early cushion for right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., who helped lead the Astros (25-11) to their best 36-game start in franchise history by limiting the Yankees to four hits over six scoreless innings, striking out seven.

Carlos Correa also had a run-scoring single for the Astros, who rapped Yankees rookie Jordan Montgomery for four runs and eight hits in six innings. The left-hander walked one and struck out seven in his sixth Major League start. Houston improved to 10-2 in its past 12 games, while the Yanks dropped their third straight contest.

In all seriousness, after the rainout tomorrow, I’ll just be happy if they get this three-game sweep over with on Sunday without the Orioles and Red Sox winning another game and I’ll be fine. The Orioles and Red Sox luckily lost tonight, as well.

Boy, this is not a good matchup for the Yankees at all. I still can’t believe the one awful Houston starter is going to get rained out.

Oh well, hopefully the rain keeps the bad times from continuing!

According to NJ.Com a rain out would mean a double header Sunday with Jeter ceremony in between games.

Waaaaa? Seriously?

Silly idea.

Yankees trying for an 11 AM start to game 1.

Remember when Mutts fans used to say “Happy Harvey Day” when Harvey was scheduled to pitch? Now the other teams fans say it.

Daily News Jeter’s jersey retirement will commence at 6:40 p.m. and first pitch of the series finale is slated for 7:30 p.m. So if the teams start the first leg of the doubleheader at, say, 11 a.m., that will provide ample time to complete the game and prepare for Jeter’s big night on Mothers’ Day.

Charlie Morton and Mike Fiers tomorrow versus Sevvy and Tanaka. Let’s win two.

Now looks like first game 205. No word on second or ceremony.

Single admission, George not pleased, 2pm and 8pm.

I imagine it’ll be Tanaka/Morton in the early game and then Fiers and Sevy in the later one, right?

I cannot believe that the Yankees are deciding to punt a Saturday game’s worth of ticket sales just to not have to make this up later in the season.

Fiers - Severino game 1.

Oh good. I’m only going to the nightcap, so I’m glad I get to see Tanaka.

[11] Too bad it’s not a single entry double header, Severino/Tanaka would be a good one.

It IS. But my brothers and I are doing Mother’s Day lunch for our mom before going to the game.

Chappie to the DL with a rotator cuff issue. They are calling it inflamation and 10 days, so I expect he will have both legs off next week.

At least it explains his recent poor play. Surprised that a guy who’s such a diva would keep quiet while hurting

Ah, things getting back to Yankees normal I see. Never like to hear about rotator cuff problems.
