Yankees.com: Kuroda coasts to 12th win on Ichiro’s homers

NEW YORK—Hiroki Kuroda turned in yet another stellar outing and Ichiro Suzuki homered twice as the Yankees defeated the Red Sox, 4-1, on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

Running his scoreless-innings streak to 16 2/3 before Adrian Gonzalez’s homer ended the run, Kuroda continued his stretch as arguably the Yankees’ most effective starter in recent months, piling up zeros into the seventh.

Undaunted, Kuroda finished with eight innings of one-run ball, logging his second victory in as many starts while limiting Boston to just four hits—three of them singles. The right-hander walked none and struck out four.

Kuroda was once again excellent, and is now sporting an ERA of 2.96.  He’s pitching like a number one starter.

Ichiro’s now hitting .322/.344/.506 in 92 PA as a Yankee. I was doubtful he had much left but hopefully he can keep getting on base at a similar clip, even if the power is a fluke.

I’m pretty happy with how this series went.  The starters all pitched well and the offense did well in two of the three games.

Notes from the game:

-Jeter’s still pretty good.  His voice sounds different though.  Deeper.  Ruh-roh…

-I actually agreed with Wadling when it was bitching about the wave.

-Train is certainly the worst band ever, might be the worst anything ever.

I hesitate to call 4 runs “run support”, but that’s all Kuroda really needs.

Oh, for fuck’s sake. ESPN has to qualify Ichoro’s home runs as “short porch homers”. They were both deep, one in the upper deck.

Assholes.

[3] They were out of every park in the league.

Yes they were. Stop watching NESPN. You’ll sleep better.

I’m just happy no Yankees were injured by Beckett.  The guy needs to lay off the booze.  That face is puffier than ever.

From RAB: Update: Pettitte, A-Rod get positive news during checkups

11:24pm: Both Pettitte and A-Rod got positive news from their checkups. Andy is not quite ready to get back up on a mound, but he will ramp up his flat ground work. A-Rod should be able to swing a bat by the weekend.

This is great news, as Joba’s promotion to the pen was leaving the flat ground squad a little thin.

DeMaestri took over for Kubek after he got hit in the throat from the bad hop in the infamous game 7.

Ichiro’s doing so well I wouldn’t mind seeing him hit at the top of the lineup with more frequency.

Just learned there’s some big scandal with some starlet, resulting in the coinage “trampire”.  I think Pin could do something with that, or Mal.

Thanks for the series win, Yankees! Makes life a whole lot easier for those of us who live in enemy territory.  Wearing my Yankees polo to work to today.

That’ll do, Spiders, that’ll do.

3. that’s cray, according to their own Home Run Tracker they were no doubters that went 390 and 396. But there’s the broadcast, “Ichiro to the seats, it’s a porch job”. Huh?

[11] My brotha.
