Yahoo: Yankees-Blue Jays Preview

Already without Mariano Rivera (torn ACL), New York placed fill-in closer David Robertson on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained muscle in his left ribcage.
“We lost Mariano first. The bullpen will do whatever we have to do,” said Rafael Soriano, who is expected to take over for Robertson. “Now with two guys down, it’s not easy for us.”

The Yankees have dropped 12 of 19 at Toronto.

I thought the Yankees had done pretty poorly in Toronto recently, but had no idea it was that bad.  Needless to say I’m not expecting a great series this week given the current state of the team.  Luckily it’s only a two-gamer.  Then it’s back home to begin the inanity of interleague play.

MLB is still doing that interleague thing?!??!

Eventually they will do away with leagues and just have one entity called MLB, with however many wild cards are needed to guarantee Boston is in the postseason every year.

With only one league, the postseason will take on a tournament format, with a selection committee that looks beyond your regular season record and considers whether or not you play the game the right way.

[3] and then that team gets to play Boston in the World Series.

Jeter’s batting .366
Soriano has a 2.57 ERA and is the closer.
And Pujols went 3-4 last night.

Meanwhile Mariano tore his ACL
Robertson is on the DL
and Gardner has been on the DL for a month.

I know I was one of the people asking for this but is everyone sure we should stop complaining?  This might be our fault.

[5]  The first step is, of course, admitting your problem.  Making amends is hard, but you don’t get to that one for a while.

Is that a Nurse Jackie reference?

Just a general 12-step reference.

Nurse Jackie and her paramour could have had TSBG back in the lineup by now

Here’s what Francesa had to say as he railed against Twitter on WFAN:

“There’s a lot of changes, all right? We understand that. The fact that broadcasters, media people and athletes are allowed to tweet, which should be against the law, is a big change, okay. It should be against the law, all right, because nobody needs to hear from any one of them. Including me, because you’re never going to catch me tweeting. It’ll never happen . . . I promise you, never.

[5] Jeter’s batting .366

Am I the only one that’s noticed that, amidst the Jeter ***ksucking, he’s managed to revert back into the ground ball slapping monster he was from March 2010 through July 2011? He hasn’t had an extra base hit in two weeks.

Yup.  He’s played 8 games since his last extra base hit.  The Yankees should probably just DFA everyone who slows down for 8 games.  That’s just unacceptable.

Yeah, because that’s what I said.

[10] Francesa wants a law against tweeting? But just for those involved in professional athletics?

Lawrie suspended for the series for being a maniac and we miss Morrow and Romero. I smell a sweep.

[15] By The Jays I assume?

Lawrie can and is playing as he appeals the suspension.
