Former Yankee legend Robin Ventura is in his first season as a manager and his first place White Sox are red-hot as they storm into town, having won two consecutive games.  Ivan Nova’s gone from fifth starter to very important with the injuries to CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte.  Can Nova stop the hottest team in baseball?

The White Sox have been a bit worse against lefties this year, which doesn’t really help the Yankees now that they have no lefties in their rotation.  The Yankees would crush them in the flat ground playoffs though.

Even in pinstripes, Youkilis would look bad to me

Jeter is hitting .238 in June.

6th SB in 9 attempts for Grandy. He’s not taking too many chances.

[2] But he is captaining at 1.000!

Arod keeps looking awful at the plate. Can’t be optimistic about this lineup anymore. Jeter, Arod and Tex are cooked

[5] “Can’t be optimistic about this lineup anymore”

When were you optimistic about it?

Ibanez is hitting for a below .550 OPS in June and clearly has nothing left on the tank. Can’t provide the offense the team needs out of the DH spot and he sucks at defense.

This team a new DH and a new LF and they could that from within.

Nova’s not inducing weak contact tonite. Too many FB

Congratulations to Dylan Axelrod on his first career no-hitter.

Teixeira is really good at defense.

[9] Beat me to it.

[9] Great Job!

Congratulations to Dylan Axelrod on his first career one-hitter.

You should be pro-active and congratulate him on his first career shutout.

Seems fair to say this lineup doesn’t give a shit tonight.

Nova’s not fooling anyone. I am starting to worry about this team without their best 2 starters

Could really use a K and a GDP here.

I guess that works too.

Nova being lucky rather than good

Warning track power.

[16] “I am starting to worry about this team”

So you’ve been fine with it all season but yesterday you started having some concerns?

I really thought they’d get the runner in from scoring position this time.

Swisher gets pitched around because Ibanez is on deck.

Can’t give Ibanez the green light on 3-0. Maybe on 3-1.

Chavez got his first 2 hits with RISP yesterday.

Sure, swing at the first pitch after 2 straight walks

De Aza?  Really?

I guess Nova didn’t like the fact that he was on the verge of dropping his ERA under 4.

One run through five, Youkilis 0-3.  I’ll take it.

Doubles power.  feh.

[5] “Arod keeps looking awful at the plate. Can’t be optimistic about this lineup anymore.”

Double feh.

can’t anyone on this team put it over the fence anymore?

Arod has no power left, but Cano is a monster!

I know it would put the tying run in scoring position, and the go ahead run on base—but HIT HIM anyway.

There are few things I’d ever want to watch less than Michael Kay interviewing Joe Buck.

How about some insurance runs offense?

Has Scary Flyball Guy taken on the form of Ivan Nova?

Is everybody at sleepaway camp?
Suze said Chisox press predicted Yanks would score 10 by the 5th.

Just got home; who is tv voice number three?

Pinella.

Soriano probably NA tonight so we need add ons.

Why not Logan to face De Aza, Youk and Dunn?

De Aza was 3-3 against Nova and is much better against RHP and by the way Nova is not pitching pretty well tonite, he has been lucky.

Too late to pull Nova in my opinion.

WOW! That’s some stupid moves in one inning by Girardi.

If Soriano is not available, then put Robertson in to get the final out of the 8th and then have him to pitch the 9th. This is the highest leverage situation of the game and against the best hitter opf their lineup and Girardi is giving the ball to an inferior pitcher. This could be a Girardi loss.

Oh my, Eppley in to save the day.

And he does!

Insurance runs please.

[46] I don’t necessarily disagree, but I can understand why Girardi would be reluctant to use Robertson for more than an inning.

Teixeira!

I said runs, not run.

Timely insurance run from the Ghost of Tex.

Robertson must be hurt. He’s not even warming up. This team is a hospital

oh god why is eppley still pitching.

I hope Robertson’s not hurt again.

Now appears that Robertson is warming up, but Joe wanted to go with Eppley against the righty and Rapada against the lefty and THEN Robertson.

I know that Girardi has done a great job managing the pen, but today is not the case.

And now Robertson is warming?  WTF?

good lord…AA on the ropes

Urgh Rapada.

AND THERE IT IS

I know that Girardi has done a great job managing the pen, but today is not the case.

Agreed.  I can’t wait to hear the rationale for this.

pr(yanks win another game this year) = 0

WTF??!?!?!?!?!?!?

Wow they might blow this game.

Way to go Girardi.

Mo why have you forsaken me?

edit:This just feels silly now.

What a loss!

Worst loss of the year.

This is unbelievably stupid.

Robertson is clearly not what he used to be.

So Girardi goes for the rested bullpen and the win but winds up with neither? Shocking

Good thing Wise, Chavez, and Stewart are coming up in the bottom half.

Bizarre.  What happened to your closer, for the day, should start the 9th axiom?

Rapada lost this game with that error, still can’t believe Girardi did not go to Robertson to start the inning. This loss is big, because they were on a roll and they have some tough series before the break without their best 2 starters.

They should not be shut down by a man named “Addison”

The bench is a problem.

Who the hell is doing color?

What fucking planet is Wise on? ughhh

Wise did his best to Posado it up.

Other than the aging ineffective lineup, the injured starting pitchers, the porous bullpen, and the anemic bench, this is the second best team in baseball.

Captain Groundout on deck…

Jones is cooked.

I know I’m over blowing this, but this could be a momentum turning loss after yesterdays news, if they don’t get back on track tomorrow.

Nice at-bat by Jones though.

[84] That’s why it’s not gonna last long. And that’s why losing this games is too much of a let down.

Jeter is cooked.

damn damn damn

Brent Lillibridge game redux.

Effing Kay haven’t you ever watched a game before, you’re as bad as Serling.

worst loss of the year so far but it’s not going to stay that way.

Sweet titty fucking Christ, you guys are some whiners.

15-4 in last 19.

I dunno, off the bat I thought that one had a chance too.

Jeter doesn’t have a walk-off hit in the DNYS.

Dakranker, did you take the under in Vegas this year or something?
