I have a bad feeling about this game.

Twins fans wear jean jackets.

I have a bad feeling any time Carl Pavano steps foot on Yankee soil.

Even though he’s on another team, it’s like being in a phone booth and seeing the guy in the next phone booth playing with a live grenade. Someone’s losing a finger.

I actually thought Pavano was a good signing at the time.  At least it didn’t upset me like the Blowmack and J. Wrong signings.

Good to see Ja Rule Iganez in the line up again. Only he can help me make sense of all this.

We can win this one if Garcia pitches like 1st half 2011 Calzone.

If anyone is interested, MLB.com kindly gave me a refund on the desktop app and I picked up the mobile one instead.  So I’m reading a book, enjoying the sunset from the Lic waterfront, and hoping fat Freddy can hold down the punch less twins. Someone give me something to complain about!

[6] Pavana v. WOE - your wish shall come true.

Human Umps: 1, Twins: 0

[8] What happened?  Although I see that the half-lifers rose to your challenge.

Ugh Garder. Get a Gold Glover out there. Where’s Jones ?

So, Garcia gave up an early run, I take it that means he has “great stuff” tonight?

[9] A caught stealing that actually wasn’t.  Should be 2-0 with one out.

[9] We got credit for a CS that we didn’t catch. I thought he was safe in live action, and replay showed it was so. The ump disagreed.

The Rock’s splitter isn’t splitting as much, get the BP up.

Can this be the last start for Garcia in Yankee uniform?

This guy.  This is not my kind of guy.

Garcia is cooked.

Is Phelps sufficiently rested?
Is he stretched out?

With Pavana on the hill, the only hope was keep it at 0-0 til you get to the bullpens for each team. This game is over.

Lots of swinging strikes and too many runs allowed… that seems so familiar!...

So technically, does that go down as “striking out the side” with only 2 K’s ?

This inning is why putting more emphasis on K’s than hits and runs can make you think a pitcher did better than they did.

Outs, baby. It’s all about making outs. Just like hitting is all about commiting the non-out.

Trade Jeter now that he’s hot

Trade Granderson, too

BRAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS! Pavana BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNSSSS!!!!!!!1!!!1~!

Belly to Belly, if you will.

So ... Jeter’s on HGH, right?

The Brains is back.  Oh the brains is back!

And Curtis.  Yay hot Carl!

[29] I hope so. That means he will earn his contract and a good part of the 4 year extension.

Carl Pavano is a classy individual and does not deserve this level of disdain.

Only a single ? Alex is totally fucking cooked.

Too bad the moat section is quiet. This would be a great time for a “CAAAARRRRLLLL” chant.

Pavano is finally earning all the money we paid him!

That was unexpected.

[33] I know, we’re really not bringing it yet.

It’s got to be rough as a pitcher knowing even April Teix can rip doubles off you.

Technically, Flash, the lead evaporated on Granderson’s swing, not Teixeira’s.

According to the “new math”.

It’s got to be rough as a pitcher knowing even April Teix can rip doubles off you.

What about singles?

After the way that inning started, scoring only three feels like a letdown.

It would have been more if Cano hadn’t swung on eleventy pitches out of the zone.

[41] Was it? I’m watching a really choppy feed on my phone. I saw it go down the line and then the damn thing locked up on me.

For the insensitive, I present:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFEoMO0pc7k

It is in poor taste, but so well done that I can’t help but laugh.  I am a terrible human being.

“Flaherty” said as Seinfeld says “Newman.”

[45] Teixeira is not fleet of foot.

Sterling just mentioned “oh-pee-ess.” Waldman was speachless.

[46]  Moby wept.

Dammit. Power just went out. Since it’s not raining or winding or anything, I can only conclude someone hit a pole.

Fortunately, I’m on a laptop and the internet router is on a battery backup. So I got about 90 minutes, I think. Switching from Bluray to the laptop for mlb.tv….

Jeter is fleet of foot.

Booo, Hooo, for Ron Gardenhire.

I don’t know why. I don’t think he’s a particularly bad guy. He’s certainly not in the league of Showshow, BobbyV, Tito, etc. but I just want to punch him whenever I see him.

Love the photo YES chose for Gardenhire.

How much Flaherty will we be flogged with this year?

[55] Too much is the answer. Too much.

Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Cheer up, boys. We could be getting a dose of Lou, tonite. And at least we have Leiter in to soften the blow.

I guess Cano’s only going to get $29M a year now.

Singleton on play by play, Cone on color. That’s the best YESbooth, we can at least agree on that, right?

So, is it just a league rule that the Yankees cleanup spot has to suck?

So, all you match whiz’s. What’s the difference in pythag between a 1-0 win and a 3-2 win ? Which would make us look better in terms of pythag ?

[60] Settled.  Although I’m somewhat ashamed to admit enjoying the shit-talking dynamic between Kay and O’Neill as well.  Paulie plays a surprisingly deft fool.

1-0.  The higher the ratio of runs scored to runs allowed, the better. 2-1 > 3-2, 3-2 > 4-3, etc.,

[62] Pretty sure it’s the former…runs saved are of slightly higher value than runs scored.

1-0

EDIT:  Damn, too slow with the smartphone.

Granderson is fleet of foot.

So, if the Yankees end up winning 3-2, we can add pythag to the list of complaints. Good to know. Good to know.

Thanks !

So it follows that a 1-0 loss is the greater magnitude than a 3-2 win, in terms of creating separation between, say, a hypothetical team of douchetards with their drunken fans singing Neil Diamon songs (NEIL FUCKING DIAMOND SONG ! Have you nothing left in your sack ??) and the greatest sports franchise in the history of….of….of Greatness !!

Oh, that we were winning 1-0, it would be even more.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the MVP trophy being presented to Jeter tomorrow.

Down goes Warren Span!

Oh, that we were winning 1-0, it would be even more.

Uncharacteristically, Pin entirely forgets that the game is only in the 5th.  And who’s pitching.

That’s Warren Steeleye Span to you, Mal.

Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia if he gives up the lead.

[73] nyuk nyuk nyuk!

I saw a movie this weekend about three heroes of western civilization entitled “The Three Stooges.”

BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA!

all in all this guy is just another brick in die Mauer.

[65] 25% for a team like the Yankees.

BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA OTRA VEZ!

It’s like these guys are allergic to pitching 5 innings.

Obviously, someone in the front office mistakenly thought Alfredo was the flying pasta thingie.
Would a rolling calzone have been better, though?

[72] This is all a result of your negativity.

Fredo, it is too early and too close a game to start trading runs for outs.

Somehow, I’m not worried.

BTW Mel, I’m finding it hard to follow _Eddie Coyle_ in spots - either the lingo being foreign or me being slow about the modern world.

I blame the guy OTF has never heard of.

[EDIT] Or what that guy was trying to preempt in [83]

[82] Yes.  I loved Bartolo Calzone.  He looked like a latin Chico Marx.

[88]
Presumably Valentine would be Groucho.
Who will be our baseball Harpo and Zeppo?

Calzone is having more success in Oaktown this year than Garcia is having on Gotham.

[86] Don’t know what to say rilkefan mon frere.  The dialogue is faithful to working class Boston dialect.  You might like the film better.  Mitchum and Peter Boyle give strong performances.

Bartolo is 2-1 against Seattle so far.  We never should have let him go.

[77] Garcia makes me think of another Peckinpah movie. In that I want to slam his pitching hand into a man-trap.

I think we’ve established that the grounding-out-to-Morneau strategy isn’t working.

What’s gotten into Jeter making an out like that?

[93] Might help his forkball fork more, sic baybee.

Remember when we had the lead 3-2?  I liked that better.

Justin Morneau is from Canadia and that’s where he hit that ball.

[89] Harpo would be Bernie. Quiet and musically inclined.

Phelps time?
