Hiroki Kuroda has been better than Phil Hughes all season and he got shelled last night, so I’m not expecting much better from Hughes today. Hughes has made four starts in Fenway in his career.

4/13/2008: 2 IP, 7 R, 3 BB, 3 K
5/7/2010: 7 IP, 2 R, 1 BB, 7 K
4/8/2011: 2 IP, 6 R, 2 BB, 0 K
8/31/2011: 5.2 IP, 6 R, 2BB, 4 K
Average: 4.17 IP, 5.25 R, 2BB, 3.5K

Yeah…

Yankees have McDonald Power.

Twelve hours excluding rain delays, right?

I would not be surprised at all if Freddy gives up another 67 runs today.

I hope we can win 1 out of the next 3 to salvage a split of the series

This would be a nice time for Swisher to stop playing like crap.

Perfect timing!  I’m a genius.

Yeah, yeah, you guys fooled me last night, but it’s a new day.

That would be better than a strikeout, Mr. Swisher.

get some

Yeah, and one more makes five.

Ugh, now Freddy has to give up even more runs just to keep up

[0] “Twelve hours of torture” - are you assuming Game 2 will be rained out?

Pedro Ciriaco?

according to gameday ball 1 was essentially in the center of the strike zone

Geez, I can’t even sleep in a little here with the game on at 9 AM. Why I would choose to wake up for such torture is beyond me…

Early start I didn’t know sounds like only 11 and a half hours of torture?

according to gameday ball 1 was essentially in the center of the strike zone

You don’t get to 400* home runs without a little* bit of help* from the umpires*.

well wasn’t that special…

Perfect moment for the GD video look-in, wasn’t it?

Remember when Yankees were good at running the bases?

EDIT: Uncanny.

Twice in an inning? Fantastic

Holy crap I’m only on beer #2, but this game(s) are gonna get me quite drunken today aren’t they?

Seriously?

Complete idiots.

Team full of Jorge’s

Morales picked off both the smartest and dumbest baserunner in the same inning. Impressive.

Effing MORONS!  Is this an effing little league game?

[23] I thought about it, but beer at 10 AM is always questionable, at least once your out of college.

those outs were costly, very costly

Tiny, barely noticeable facepalms…

Swisher wanted ARod to not feel so bad about getting picked off… Swisher, always the perfect teammate…

Did Selig tell both teams that a blow out would be bad for Fox’s ratings?  Where was Swisher going?  After Arod’s pick off one might have thought Swisher would take notice but then his bulb is kind of dim.

Pick that off!

Hmm 2 beers = 2 HR’s in inning.  You’re welcome…

I still don’t at all feel secure about this game yet.

Can’t pick that off.

This is fairly enjoyable, so far.

[38]  Agreed….“so far” being the key words there.

Rats.  I wanted more runs.

Much as I hate the townies this is not the line up that we’ll be seeing in a few weeks.

Is Willy Mays Hays playing in the nightcap?

There goes the no-hitter.

Ortiz should do a testimonial for Jamba Juice

sports.yahoo.com/mlb has the play in the third as
“R. Cano struck out swinging, M. Teixeira picked off at third, A. Rodriguez out at second”

I found that confusing on my family’s weekly outing to the local bakery.

Been “robbed” of two triples with ground rule doubles at this ballpark this series.

Damnit, I was hoping we’d score more this inning

Made Shop-Vac look bad there.

Cerano still can’t hit the curveball.  Needs hats for bats.

This seems still too close for comfort

That’ll do, pig.

[49]  Treat him with respect, he grows up to be President Palmer one day…

Good 5 innings from Fast Freddie so far today.  Still want more runs….

We need like 8 or 9 more runs before I will relax.

That was…..pleasant.

Bases unclogged

Andruw!!!!!!!!

Trailing by 5 not too swift by Ortiz

need 7 outs from the pen

That was an unexpectedly excellent performance from Freddy

It’s funny when we walk Ortiz every time.

Wade should start the 9th

Good thing this Germano fellow didn’t get the start

Hooray win!

Woot!  Now I won’t be that angry when Hughes allows 8 home runs tonight.

Further away from being swept !

[65] I’ll still be angry…..just not quite AS angry.

Top 4 relievers should still be available for tonight. Cool.

So this is the worst team ever to have the best record in baseball?

[70] The worst by a long shot.

Andruw best HR/AB on the team.

If/when Gardner comes back, is Dewayne Wise worth anything in trade?

I can certainly complain that the Yanks offense disappeared for half the game, right?

[74] Joe went with the flip-flop House Money lineup in Game 1 to rest Chavez, Igauana, and Martin for the nightcap.

[75] I thought this was Martin’s best game in weeks.

There isn’t a spitballs chance in hell that we could win a series from the townies at Fenway.

My theory is that Martin is dead, like a Sixth Sense kind of thing, but no one knows it yet.  I haven’t figured out how to incorporate the fact that someone clearly catches each pitch yet, but I’m “working” on it…

And by “working” I mean I grabbed another beer and am watching Salt between games…

I saw “Safety Not Guaranteed” last night.  I liked it, but I kept feeling like a better film was within easy reach.  And the Yanks won.

This morning I went for a massage.  And the Yanks won.

Tonight, sushi.  If the Yanks win the nightcap I’m going to have to figure out something self-indulgent for the last game.

[80] Might I suggest a liver-shattering bender?

[81] As long as we can all do the same…spoiler alert, Angelina has switched from blonde to brunette…

[81]  That’s a given.

[82]  From Salt to Pepa!

That really was an unexpectedly nice performance turned in by Garcia today, albeit against a lineup that was sporting more than one Pawtucket pair of socks. Also, MLB has Garcia as having thrown 100 pitches in that start, but they are wrong.  He only threw 97 - the MLBAM guy screwed something up.

UJD (80) Me too, until the last seen it lacked “magic.”  Also I would have ended with a final coda, perhaps after the credits, with Darius sitting at the breakfast table with her Mom and Dad.  That should have been the proper finale.

Moonrise Kingdom was better though not nearly as good as Rushmore.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: #RedSox about $10M over luxury-tax threshold. Would want teams to include cash in trades, forcing them to give up better players.

too bad, so sad

Sox won’t be sellers at the deadline?

[87] SG has them at 30%-45% to make the PS depending on the outcome of the next two games.

win this one, win tomorrow and won’t complain for 4 straight days about the Yankees

Don’t be making promises you can’t keep, dak.

I would ask why Boston is starting a guy at 3B who last played there in A ball….but I don’t care about their problems…

I am finding it hard to complain about the first innings of the past 3 games.

[Paul Newman voice:] Who are these guys?

[92]
Really, my dear monkey? About the 1st inning of yesterday’s game?

OK, the tops of first innings.

Looks like we have a lot of early speed

[95]
ok i knew that ))

5 runs in the first inning of the Game 1
4 runs in the first inning of the Game 2
3 runs in the first inning of the Game 3

I don’t like they way this is progressing.

Ortiz the only Sock in the ASG. I guess he’s the mandatory token mercy player for the Townies.

BTW—You saw what happened after Tex’s home run—rally killer.
