Snark
Curtis Granderson’s OBP will drop below .300 after he makes an out in each of his first four PA today (WOE willing). There have been five Yankees who played primarily CF and got at least 250 PA since 1901 who put up an OBP below .300, so Granderson’s on the precipice of joining an even more select group than Alex Rodriguez, who’s close to some milestone of most HRs hit in garbage time or some such.
Comments
Can’t seem to find anything on the roster move for Mitre yet.
Well, what they should do is DFA a certain reliever to open up a spot, but more likely they’ll demote one of Albaladejo, Logan or Miranda to make room.
Girardi:Park::Torre:Erickson?
Pretty sure this is on Cashman, not Girardi.
LH:
Jonathan Albaladejo was optioned to make room for Sergio Mitre.
[5]
WTF!?!? Yabbadabbado looked filthy last night.
I don’t care for this lineup w/o Swisher and Gardner.
Would have preferred Moseley sent down. As for the lineup, it’s a new high (low?) in house-money lineups.
What’s up with Swish’s achilles tendon?
edit: is Thames in LF with a little snark about his glove?
This has answers to some of the questions about Swisher, Gardner, and Pettitte. Also, in a way it makes sense to send Alby down. Gaudin pitched yesterday, and they’ll want a long man for today (Moseley). Yeah, they coulda, shoulda, DFA’d Park, but…they may be holding Park until after August 1st, which is only a week away. Then put him on waivers to gauge interest in him, and decide what to do after that.
SG - The snark was worth the wait. Thank you.
This team can do some really dumb things sometimes.
Posada has defensive limitations.
Mitre + Posada = Dream Battery
[11] That wasn’t terrible. Throw was high and wide, and the ball came loose on the tag.
Catchers’ mitts aren’t great for sweep tags.
[13] OK, but it was suboptimal.
[14] Well, yes. In the 1st, ARod probably should have just looked the runner back to 2B, and gone to first. You shouldn’t sweat one run against Kyle Davies and the Royals.
Catchers’ mitts aren’t great for sweep tags.
Posada’s mitts aren’t great for catching.
Jeter grounded out??
Granderson is showing small signs of getting hot.
[17]
Of course.
I’d be pretty annoyed if I were a pitcher and had to change the balls out every time ARod came up.
No YES won’t show us the “check swing” of Teixeira? that’s cool
You shouldn’t sweat one run against Kyle Davies and the Royals.
First team to 15 wins today?
[22] I’m thinking more like 10-8.
You think the Yanks will score 8 with this lineup?
Sterling: “One stat I’ve never given . . . I don’t know why . . . is run differential. The Yankees lead the majors in run differential.”
Discuss.
[24] Have you seen the Royals pitching?
[26] And defense!
Kyle Farnsworth has a 174 ERA+, 3.1 K/BB ratio. WTF?
Pettitte’s feeling good, and is playing catch already, great news!
Gardner is out with a piece of meat stuck in his throat. Weirdest injury everrrrr.
signs of a bad catcher, if you let the other team’s catcher steal off of you, and that catcher is well into his mid 30s
No wonder the Royals have three runs already, SG’s lineup includes two DH’s, the Cap’n and Thames. Which means only seven position players.
[30] All Mitre had to do was step off and the guy is picked. Not Po’s fault.
[30] That was all Mitre. He completely ignored Kendall.
this game has catastrofuck written all over it
[33] That’s news? With Mighty Mitre on the mound?
ARod ties it with a HR. You heard it here first.
Captain Groundball!
Another AB, another GO.
It actually looks like Jeter is trying to hit the ball into the ground now.
[33] Yes, yes it does. Which sucks, b/c with Teix, ARod, Cano and Posada in there, it’s still a much better lineup than KC’s.
#29 - not really that odd w/ Gardner necessarily. Don’t know his diagnosis, but it happened to me several times before I had good enough health insurance to get it figured out.
[34] they’re going up against Kyle fucking Davis, which is one of the few guys in the big leagues I’m not certain is a better pitcher than Mitre, and they’re going up against a lineup that even with our completely C lineup out there is still inferior, not to meatnion we’re at home.
Not. Their. Day.
aweeeeeeeeeeeesome
Mitre probably doesn’t have his arm strength back yet. He’ll get better.
Umm, yay runs?
I blame the Binder.
[29] yeah, I’m a vegetarian because of that. Going to the hospital after 20 hours of not being able to swallow sucks.
Suzyn: “That old baseball adage: the fallacy of the predestined hit”.
Discuss.
If it wasn’t for Captain groundout, this game could be winnable.
[47] A piece of carrot can’t get stuck? Just askin’.
[47], [50].
Yeah, I’d think it could be anything. My wife gets this (never needed to go to the hospital, it usually passes in a minute or two), but it’s because she take big bites and doesn’t chew enough.
It should be mandatory that all Dustins in the major leagues should be called Dusty.

Nobody can stand cauliflower;
And artichokes couldn’t be worse.
Spinach and lettuce just cower,
Tomatoes are life’s greatest curse.
Oh, a carrot won’t kiss or caress you,
Won’t tease you or brush back your hair;
But a carrot won’t bore or depress you.
You won’t care that it doesn’t care.
Asparagus will do if you can feel it,
A slim, smooth zucchini’s all right;
Broccoli’s fine once you peel it,
But it won’t keep you moaning all night.
So a carrot won’t kiss or caress you,
Won’t compliment you or say please;
But a carrot won’t brag to impress you,
Won’t fail you or give you disease.
Since I was a girl I’ve adored them,
I do one whenever I can.
And don’t worry - you can afford one;
Just run out and trade in your man.
No, a carrot won’t nibble your earlobes,
But its own needs won’t spoil your fun.
Won’t say you’re fat or give you microbes,
And it’s good to eat when you’re done.
Btw, re [53], PTB, feel free to delete if the above isn’t family-friendly enough or too many non-baseball cms.
[50] I don’t eat carrots much, but apples have occasionally been a problem. Your saliva can (somewhat) dissolve things that aren’t meat, and everything except meat can be chewed thoroughly enough that it’s not an issue.
Why is Pena batting here?
Of course it’s a ground rule double.
Wow.

Rilkefan, sometimes I worry about you.
Thanks for caring sometimes, I guess.
