BOS: A Horse’s Ass (32, RHP, 5-10, 5.19) vs. NYY:Hiroki Kuroda (37, RHP, 11-8, 3.06)

Lineups
Red Sox

Carl Crawford LF
Dustin Pedroia 2B
Adrian Gonzalez 1B
Ryan Lavarnway C
Jarrod Saltalamacchia DH
Scott Podsednik RF
Pedro Ciriaco SS
Nick Punto 3B

Yankees
Derek Jeter SS
Nick Swisher 1B
Robinson Cano 2B
Curtis Granderson CF
Eric Chavez 3B
Raul Ibanez LF
Russell Martin C
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Casey McGehee DH

I’m not sure who scares me more.  Miguel Cabrera or Pedro Ciriaco.

Bold prediction of the night: Russell Martin will end the day with an average above .200.  Yes, I’m going out on a limb with that one, but that’s just how I roll.

I’d love to say this game is meaningless, but with the pathetic way the Angels rolled over and played dead for Tampa Bay over the last four days it’s not.  Now that LA of A has put up a stellar 1-8 mark against Tampa Bay this year, the Yankees have to win this game or they’ll see their AL East lead shrink to four games, which is way too close for comfort.  I hope the Rays at least give the Angels a partial postseason share.

Just reading the LoHud article on Swisher. He really has been amazingly consistent and durable for us for 4 years, and at a reasonable price.

How many Yankee hitters will Beckett hit tonight?

I have a fond wish that, one day, a Yankee will charge the mound and punch Beckett in that bloated face of his.

Meanwhile in St Louis…

3 consider my curiosity piqued

Just a run o’ the mill 18-inning affair in progress.

Oh, look. A pitcher at bat.

I should clarify, a pinch hitting pitcher.

[6] That’s nothing, we’ve got at least two pitcher-esque batters in the lineup tonight.

pitcher walks.

Walking a pinch-hitting pitcher should immediately qualify you for a demotion to AAA. As in, without waiting for the inning to finish.

Pitch count until the first beaning ?

Where Wolf ? We miss Wolf.

Cano used to own Beckett :(

Cano is broken:(

2008 again.

Doesn’t look like it’s going to get better soon. Balance off again, and discipline is gone again.

Bye bye MVP chances.

Someone needs’s to go on Melky’s website and order up a…an order, for Cano.

its actually amazing how bad Cano has looked. after Swishers 3-0 ground out, this offense is done for the night..

Yep, throw it inside, Orel. Good idea. Thanks !

Yay Granderson!  That ball was up.

ill just take credit for that and whistle quietly away…

[16] That would be a great experiment, actually. Hand him some hand lotion, tell him it’s a PED, and see what happens.

Grabnderson!

This lineup is so much better with Chavez in it.

I hope Kuroda-y likes his one run cuz that’s all he’s getting tonight.

[23] That statement is amazing on several levels.

[24] It’s probably more than he expected.

There’s a shotglass of water in it for you, Hirokieey…

Why is McGehee on this team again ? Great Caesar’s Ghost !

Yes its early this evening but Kuroda is continuing to look great. What a lift for this club.

OMG this promo. *shoots self*

Townie fans across the globe are watching that commercial with Mo being carried off, Alex being hit, etc. with the sound off, masturbating.

To paraphrase OTF, eff them with a rusty spoon.

Also eff this NESPN booth.

Hiroki made Ciriaco look like how Ciriaco’s supposed to look.

All of you pretending to have a life, it’ll be on you if/when we don’t get to the rally page.

If I had to tell someone to spend ten million dollars on something, are Kuroda futures looking good?

[35] Better spent on Kuroda than Cano.

guess Curtis is the whole offense yet again

EDIT: and Derek

(32) Trombone. That is all.

DP situation back in play. Inning over.

[34]
YM, I was semi-tricked into writing an article about the whole pseudo-punk girl pseudo-band conviction in Russia.
Otherwise I’d be all over this.

Interesting fact: The Pitt-St Louis game, which lasted 19 innings, took about 6.5 hours. With Becky on the mound, we have a chance to approach that long with a normal 9-inning affair.

Suck it Becky.

[41] Write a pseudo-article and call it a night.

[41] I have enjoyed the excessive media use of the name of said pseudo-punk band. good times…

THat Derek Jeter just knows how to play the game

This is what happens when you put McGeehe on the team. It starts rubbing off.

Do my ears tell me their doing the motherfarnsing wave, again ?

That should get you ejected faster than taking a leak during GBA.

Ugh.

fuck the wave

the wave? really? wtf, is this petco park?

Everyone doing the wave should be ejected immediately.

Amen, Pin.

They may as well bring Doodle back, if this is the shit that’s going to go on.

Denizens of DNYS doing the “wave.” Sad.

[45]
YM, the funny thing is - that’s probably more or less what they want me to do, but I just can’t.

it sure would be nice if Cano could even eek out a productive AB

Woof is bow bow now

This shit wouldn’t be happening if it was a school night. Seriously, the only people who do the wave are drunk college students at a football game, and kids under 14 going to the game with their mom. Dads don’t let their kids do the wave.

Every time a runner is stranded against Becky, a kitten gets punched in the neck.thanks, Chavy. Kitten-puncher.

Does anyone pitch slower than Beckett?  It’s just so painful

I was at the game earlier this week and the whole damn place was doing the damn wave, school night and all. It was disgraceful.

Did the wave used to happen at the old park? Was there ever a culture of shaming potential wavers? So many questions.

[64] Don’t they have summer vacation anymore ?

Love the “willy wonka” chant with pedoia up

DOYS: D-Battery Night
DNYS: Pink bats and The Wave.

Plenty of kids with their dads doing the wave.

[67] He’s Frodo’s unmentioned brother, Dildo.

Oh god the bloody sock game lionized again….
Where’s that kitten, I want to take a swing at it

Yes, geniuses, make him play out this lost season and then lose him for all of next season.  Great idea.

Seems like Kuroda is getting calls, while Beckett is getting squeezed.

I’m OK with that.

1. Ruth
2. Kuroda
3. Gehrig
4. Mantle

How about knocking this horse’s ass out of the game this inning?

[75] Please!!!

[75] I’d be OK with sending McGehee out to charge the mound. He doesn’t even need to be batting when he does it. Straight out of the dugout. Between innings, even. Don’t wait for the plunk.

Not looking likely, SG.

I was hoping for copious “KFC” chants tonight. Yankee fans, I am disappoint.

Ichiro!

Ichiro!! That was a shot.

that was unexpected!

Yankee hitters hate Kuroda

Ichiro does not want any kittens punched.

Holy effen pelican beaks.

Yay Ichiro!

Is that his first in pinstripes ?

I’ll take the under on Martin and 195 tho he is indeed a good hitter of so Serling insists.

Id appreciate it getting to about 15-0 in the next half hour so i can comfortably watch breaking bad.

I’m interested in the answer for 90 too.

[90] he had one other. home runs are infectious.

Out of the baseline

Bullshit. He’s out.

I remember one other not too many games into his NY tenure.

Finally Joltin’ Joe Ciriaco is getting the treatment he deserves by a Yankee pitcher.

I say this is the inning Beckett plunks someone.
