Hurry back Brett!  Another day off for Teixeira, which I think makes sense.

After turning his ankle and being hit on his foot in his last start I’m a bit surprised to see Nova back out there without missing a turn.  I guess since this is an exhibition game they don’t care about throwing him out there if he’s at less than full strength.

Yesterday’s win was on Pettitte, and not the continually awful WOE, who tacked on three useless runs in the 8th after getting one through seven.  Maybe that can carry over into today.

Are we rooting for “Player: AVG/OBP/SLG” or for “New York Yankees”?
By the way, for Big Fan - this is a complaint, and Teix sucks.

Ah, back to instantly falling behind. No place like home.

It’s Rugers own!

3K = good
Only allowing 1 run instead of the customary 3 they usually allow in the 1st = good
28 pitches = bad
Having now allowed the equal number of runs their offense will score in all 9 innings = not promising

Well, Frazier went to Rutgers, so he used to getting beat by Nova….

I wish more people were around for that awesome joke.

Great, WOE can’t even get DNYS Specials anymore. #Fuckin’Cooked

Even though I’m nominally a Devils fan, I would be pretty happy for the Rain-juhs if they make it to the cup finals.

By the way, have we talked about Cano’s freakin’ bomb? That’s one of the deepest shots I’ve seen into the RF bleachers.

And have to good people of Rhode Island lynched Schilling yet?

The Rangers were the best team in their conference all season.

Unrelated, Teix asked if he was feeling any better after the offday - “I don’t feel any worse,” in an extremely raspy voice.

[9] Stat-padding.

Jesus christ, he is bad at fielding.

Nova on pace for a 27K 9ER 252 pitch CG loss.

So, Bruce robs Jeter of extra bases and Iganez gives away a double. Great. This team doesn’t even deserve the second wildcard.

Nova is perfectly cromulent.

Ballgame.

No way WOE puts up 2 runs today.

This inning is not on Ibanez. Is on Girardi, because Raul should not be out there, is not his fault that they’re asking him to play defense.

But Cano NEEDS a day off, dak…

Nova is nearly as confusing as Hughes.

So far this year he’s shown huge increases in K/9, HR/9, and H/9, all while walking fewer than his career average.

I guess the easy answer is that he’s pitching in the zone a lot more. I can’t tell if this means he’s about to take the next step to a legit #2 or if he’ll fall off the map completely.

scout: hitters are .301 off of Nova before pitch #45 and .382 after. Neither of those are good numbers…

Who is Ivan Nova?

27k, 9 er pace still intact

[26]When he was a lad, stting under a Mango tree….

Only on pace for 219 or so pitches now. But he can push that back up with some more battling next inning.

How many runs will the Yankees score this inning:
a)0
b)0
C)0
d)0

inspiring At Bat by the Rod

I smell a Perfect Game

Remember when Bailey and Hughes were can’t miss top prospects?

Remember when Bud Smith and Brandon Duckworth were can’t miss prospects?

Remember when the Yankees were projected to be the best team in the AL?

And I think the Nova/Hughes comparison is solid. Very confusing dudes. Hughes in the minors was a high K groundball control artist. Now he’s, well, not that. Nova has flipped his script as well based on what we’re seeing this year.

Also, my pinky finger looks exactly like Cone’s.

How many runs will the Reds score this inning?
a) 1
b) 1
C) 1
d) 1

How many K’s will Nova have this inning?
a) 3
b) 3
C) 3
d) 3

Will I continue with this joke all game long?
a) yes
b) yes
C) yes
d) yes

I was looking forward to Mariano starting for Panama in the WBC after he retired.

By the way, Montero looks like crap so far, if that makes anyone feel better.

Jesus, 7 Ks. This is getting kinda cool. Look out Wood and Rocket!

Maybe the Red should stop taking two strikes every AB.

Wow. Nova either strikes them out or allow them to hit extra base hits.

BTW congrats to Bailey for his first perfect game.

This is awesome.

Worst 20 K game of all time still in the works…

What is Nova’s personal best for Ks in a game? Is this it?

Maybe we’ll see a perfect game and a 20k game by opposing pitchers!

If anyone here is a frequent visitor to the chats Dave Cameron or Keith Law, I’d love it if you joined me in asking their opinion of what’s going on with Nova’s K or XBH two true outcomes routine.

[48] The 9-0 loss will hurt the pythag, but who cares when this team is destined to go 81-81.

Remember when Jeter was hitting like .415 a couple weeks ago?

Obviously, xbox mlb app is a bit behind. The 9-1 loss will feel a bit better.

Is Dave Cameron the poor SOB who we made fun of constantly for his Cano prediction who then got cancer? I hope he pulls through some how so I can go back to making fun of him. That’s a rough fucking deal….

Someone in the future, does Wise:
strike out, ground out weakly, or pop out to the infield?

I assumed Jeter would be up because there was no way Dewayne Wise would be hitting anywhere other than 9th…

I’m using my Roku today. Works pretty great. Better than my laptop.

Ah, he struck out.

Someone in the future, does Nix:
strike out, ground out weakly, or pop out to the infield?

BTW, no score at the Rock after the first period.

Single to right!

Congrats to Nix on raising his OBP to .188!

Nix really was to run harder on the hit and run.

WJ, I think your Roku and my xbox are running the same delay behind everyone else. You are not in fact from the future.

now that’s what you call a perfect throw…

MLB on Roku is great. It was pretty bad during the 2010 season but they’ve turned it around since then. They make it really easy to switch to other games when WOE happens.

Jete’s is hitting it hard at least. Perhaps another hot streak is coming up.

Conversely, this year At Bat is working like pure shit on my Droid X, even though it was more or less fine last year. Really pisses me off since I upgraded to premium just to get mobile access. It works fine on my ipod touch.

Whatever happened to the guy who wrote star trek novels?

[67] Yeah, Roku during the 2011 season was awesome. I only switched to xbox because the other apps on the Roku are inferior to the 360 (hulu, hbo, netflix) and Roku lacking access to espn3.

Well, that and winning a free xbox in a raffle didn’t hurt either.

[71] I thought about getting an xbox for ESPN3 alone. Is it worth it? I’m not a gamer and I read somewhere that you have to get a yearly subscription for access.

I thought ESPN3 was free with selected internet services.

you know, 10 years ago a Yankee Stadium crowd would be on its feet with two strikes at this point.

Only 1 K, ugh

also, if you just want the streaming apps, you can get a roku for 40 bucks.

[75] Apathy and general obesity - standing up is hard work.

[72] It is worth it if you have an ISP that allows access to espn3 because it gives you access (live and via delay) to ANY game that airs on the espn/abc networks.

I use it because we don’t have cable so I can still see anything espn is covering.

The 360 does require a yearly subscription to xbox live gold to do almost anything online (espn3, netflix, hulu+, mlb.tv) and they usually charge $59 for it. However, there are ALWAYS sales online and in stores and you can usually find a yearly sub for $35.

espn3 is free with select ISPs though, but that is just access via computer. Great if you have a HTPC, but if you don’t and want it on the tv, you pretty much have to have an xbox360.

Warning track power.

hit the weights, Alex.

iganez is a champ.

Is it me, or did that seem like a REALLY slow relay throw by the 1B?  I was sure Cano was going to be out there.

How did Iganez become the best hitter on this team?

[85] Quite easily….sadly.

[83] I think it was Phillips on the relay, but yeah he was REALLY slow on it. Ironically, Cano would have easily thrown out a runner as slow as himself at the plate.

How long until Cashman smartens up and trades Iganez to a contender?

[77] Agreed. The Roku is great if you want access to mlb.tv, netflix, hulu, amazon vod, and a few others. Especially if you have multiple tv’s you want to have the ability to stream to as you can outfit each one with a roku pretty inexpensively.

Yes Nova, that’s the way to go: fastballs right down the middle…

The defense has cost nova the game. First Ibanez and now Arod.

Good game.

Game over.

The HR problem dates back to spring training

Welp, pretty sure the Champions League final is coming on now. Cheers gents.

well we’re back on the 9 er pace.

Kay still getting excited about the 11ks as if it means a damn thing when Nova is getting spanked.

Lundqvist has 25 saves. still no score.

[93] [95]: Shame on you, quitters. The Yanks will come back to win it, on the back of great offensive contributions from Martin, Nix and Wise.

Ok…the Hughes/Nova great K rate, good BB rate, shitty everything else thing is getting really annoying.
