Good to see Girardi making sure to keep Russell Martin’s hot bat in the lineup.

It’s Hughes Day, one of the worst days to be a Yankee fan.  It could be worse though, it could be Tim Redding day.

SG jinxed Logan

Fucking Nunez.

Oh, they’re not yelling “Booooooooooooooooooooooooooone!”
They’re booing.

Words can’t express….

This is a fucking joke. This roster construction sucks. Just call a fucking OF already.

Theeeeeere it is.

Everyone jinxed Nun-E

There’s one thing you can say for Hughes: leaving him in there would probably have not ended with that particular result.

Describe, please… painful as it may be…

[111] Tailing fly, but catchable. Nuney tried to find it by sonar. It fell about eight inches away from him.

Nunee valuable utility guy

I really dislike Tex. I’d rather Iguana play the field and Swish play 1st. Yup, it’s gotten to that.

How can the Yankees still running out Nuñez out there with a career 84 OPS+ and being the worst defensive player in the history of baseball.

When is Gardner and/or Swisher coming back?  Hughes is still dead to me, I’ve been hurt too many times by him…

Tex’s OPS is now lower than Nun-E’s, at least Nun-E pops out to catcher in a minute

117 grittiness.

and being the worst defensive player in the history of baseball.

Ah, you have never experienced the wonder that was Dr. Strangeglove.

(Actually, I just love the nick so much I’ll use any excuse to bring it up.)

Nunez popup in 3….2….

Tremendously predictable….

I didn’t double check but it looks like the bottom 6 in the lineup are 0-16

Damn you, Jonathan.

Nunez has one extra base hit, a double, and 2 walks in the season.  This guy can’t hit and can’t field. Please trade him for peanuts. I want him out of this team, the far the better.

Like clockwork.

gotta like the managerial display of confidence in Nunez there….

[120] NunE isn’t white enough to be “gritty”

Would O’Day vs. Jamaican batters be like Jim Gott vs. Tim Teufel?

Wait…is Iguana going to catch…

I knew that ball hit the ground and unlike the umpires who are 50 feet away, I’m in Connecticut.

[131] I’m guessing NunE is going to catch.
Actually, he’s going to play all the defensive positions.
At once.

Well here’s your tease.

Unbelievable.

Who had Jeter being the best player on the Yankees in May?

136 Jeter

At least Montero is 4-4 tonight.

This team sucks and will suck for some more time.

Who really cares about the lost draft pick, they would have gotten some pitcher who would rise to #1 in the Baseball America rankings and then either fall apart in the majors or succeed somewhere else. This way we’re spared the heartbreak.

Phil Hughes makes me very sad.  I really thought he was going to be great.

138 we look terrible

Last 2/3 of the lineup and Chavez went 0/20

[140] They can’t all be Sam Militello. The great ones only come along so often.

Cano’s attitude is annoying

Why are Joe and Cash so infatuated with Nu N E,?

Hes not an infielder either

I nominate my pal dakranker for the Chevy complainer of the night. Well done lad.  BTW the Phlairs suck.

I can’t wait for more Hughes!  I hope he can build on this outing!

I am not sure what the Yankees management sees in Nunez, but it is definitely something that I don’t see. I guess his physical tools are enticing, but this is a rather bad baseball player. Sometimes you think the pretty girl is going to make a great actress, so you keep sending her out there to see if she can say the dialogue well. And she screws up all the time, because she is not an actress.

I am not sure Eduardo Nunez is a major league caliber baseball player, but I have been wrong before.

@ Sam, Jessica Lange syndrome. Complete fail until the Postman Always Rings Twice. Nunez needs to kill his husband and run away with Jack Nicholson. Die in a wreck and get great roles forever. That was easy.

All That Jazz? But Roy Scheider dies, I think, so you’ve got a point.

So, Nun-EE is King Kong-ing it now? He certainly plays the field with the grace of King Kong.
