Lineups
The First Place Baltimore Orioles
Reimold LF
Hardy SS

Andino 2B

Yankees
Jeter SS
Granderson CF
Rodriguez DH
Cano 2B
Teixeira 1B
Ibanez RF
Chavez 3B
Martin C
Nunez LF

I don’t think that OF is horrific enough.  Granderson should be benched for Andruw Jones to really add that last bit of punch.

Jason Hammel came to the first place Orioles in an off-season trade for Jeremy Guthrie.  The good news is that means we don’t have to watch Guthrie plunking Yankee after Yankee four or five times this year.  The bad news is that now the Yankees have to face a guy with a 1.73 ERA instead of a guy who’s got a 5.92 ERA.

Granderson should be benched for Andruw Jones Bobby Abreu.

FTFY.

We could accomplish the same thing by going to the 5-2 nickel defense. Alex, Chavez, Jeter, Cano, Teix in the IF, with a mostly stationary Jones and Igauana in the “gaps”.

#bindershiftstrategynumber18

[2] I’ve actually been wondering about Gardner in left-center, Granderson in right-center, and say Nunez at longstop.

[2] How about that basic configuration but with Teix on the bench?  Because Teix sucks at baseball is what I’m saying.

[3] They actually deployed that in one of the disaster games in Tampa, I think. Really. It didn’t help.

Oh, and Johnny Damon, once he steps onto the 25-man roster tomorrow, I think, in Cleveland, turns into a $1.25 million one-year contract. Surely even his Merman routine, while odd-looking, would have been better than Igauana or Jones ?

He always looked like he wasn’t going to catch the ball, but he generally did, and he still has good mobility, relative to Jones/Igauanaa.

[4] Oh yeah, he sucks strongly. But with Swisher out, who would you put at first ?
I say just go with the 8 man defense and be done with it. Both Gardner and Granderson could get from Center to any balls hit to Right or Left that Iguana or Jones could get to from whereever they happened to be standing still at.

Woah, why is Jones not starting?

Hurray back, Gardner & Swish!

also, why does Teixeira always look like he’s about to take a dump when he’s waiting for the pitch. /rhetorical question.

[8] Chuck Knoblauch always looked like that.  I always liked Chuck KNoblauch when he was with the Twins.  I never liked Chuck Knoblauch when he was with the Yankees.

I guess we’ve found Swisher’s replacement for 2013.

Another day, another MLBTV fail.

With the season he’s having, maybe the Yankees should extend Cano now for 10 years, $10M.

From up 0-2 to walking him.  Brilliant.  And right in front of Weiters…

How many scoreless first innings has this team had in 22 games? Three?

Oh sweet cheese, I cant take much more of Ibanez’s fielding.  That should have been a jumpless catch at the wall.

[13] Technically, that walk should have been a K. Using robots.

How many scoreless first innings has this team had in 22 games? Three?

One more today.  Its the second.

[15] The leap made it more exciting by making it look harder.

It also made it ACTUALLY harder, which might have been the difference between catching it and missing it.

Ah, who am I kidding ? He was gonna muff it no matter what.

Cashman is an idiot. It’s his fault that Ibañez is playing the field.

Scoring two runs off Hammel is like when Rocky cut Drago.

[17] Of the now 9 games where they haven’t given up runs in the first, 6 of them they’ve given up runs in the second. It would be refreshing to string together a few zeroes early in the game. For sanity’s sake, if nothing else.

And I’m happy to have been wrong about Chavez too.

It would be refreshing to string together a few zeroes early in the game. For sanity’s sake, if nothing else.

So much for sanity.
Oh, and - Chavezeyey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did Chavez get hurt on that play?

My man crush on Chavez continues.

Kuroda’s not exactly tricking them so far.

Kuroda has nothing today

Brett Pipp?

Kuroda has nothing today

Except, if the trend for the season continues, results.

I’m liking the efficient work by Kurod-ey so far.

I’m calling a weak grounder to the right side for Cano.

2008 Cano

Nice play by Jeter to make that tag.

Would be nice if the Yankees give Kuroda some cushion.

And Darvish gives up his first HR in the majors to Encarnacion.

Kuroda is getting better velocity on his FB as the game goes on. It happened in Texas. He was throwing 90 mph in the first inning and by the 4th he was throwing 93-94.

I stepped away for a while. I presume, from the 3 0’s in a row in the box score, that the starter has been run, and our bullpen has taken over.

Buy low on Martin if he keeps struggling please

Jeterian, by the look of it.

Amazing how little posting is going on here.

Hiroki getting lucky

Jeter seems to have a stronger arm this season.  Or maybe I’m imagining it.

When was the last time one of our starters recorded 2 QS’s in a row ?

Wait, when did they change the rules such that Cano doesn’t have to go directly from the plate to the dugout?

Cano is a bad baserunner

Cano is a bad baserunner

Horrible baserunning by Cano, luckily it was Betemit trying to catch the throw.

A comedy of errors in 3 acts.

I did not see that GDP coming.

Ibañez is responsible for the only O’s run and is now 0-3 with a heart breaking inning ending DP. DFA?

I did not see that GDP coming.

You know, Suzyn…

Pull him now before it’s too late please!

Girardio has tossed the binder. WTF. No Sori?

Too late. Too bad we have Girardi now that we have a good team

Betemit kills RHP. I rather have Logan right now on the mound, or even Soriano. Just pull him now

Great block and tag by Kuroda.

WHAT A PLAY!

He was so fucking out!!!!

Wilson, if you don’t like your Mitt get a Betemit gets left at the altar!!

BTW, I’m using RLYW to audition for SportsCenter.

*thump* *thump* is this thing on?

You know Yankees, you could score again.

has Russel Martin gotten a hit all month?

Serious question, why do the Yankees love Nunez bat so much?

I’m looking for an answer other that “It’s cheap.”

Robertson just got jinxed by the YES Network. I hope he only gives up one run

Robertson is throwing a cutter and is moving a lot

This Robertson kid could be something some day.

[68] I credit the socks.

Don’t fuck with the Roberty!

I’ll bet that Schteeve is in the mood, after that.

a Monday night battle against the league-leading Orioles and less than 100 posts??

I can’t see the game.  Somebody tell me more about Robertson’s cutter.  Talk dirty to me.

More runs, please.

Alex is totally fucking cooked.

Edit: Dammit. That thing is broken again.

Did that half inning even take place?

The feels like disaster.

Oscar, you looking good in dem heels. Very nastay. D-Rob looked…pretty effen nastay too. It IS the Orrells.

Yay Mo!  Yay Hiroki!  Yay Chavez!  Yay win!

Yay D-Rob! Yay Mo! Yay defense! Yay win!

The feels like victory!

We’re coming full circle, in a way:  Mo is gonna spend a couple years being the Wetteland to Robertson’s young Mo….yay win!

Yay Corroder indeed. Very nice work. We’ll need another 150 innings of that. Please.

Garcia out of the rotation and the quality starts begin to flow (until HUGHESDAY! that is.) Anyways, yay win! Yay Mo! Yay Robertsoney! Yay Chavey!

Full-blown CT underway in Townie-Town. If you’re into that kind of thing.

Check that. It’s done.
