Dillon Gee’s pitching pretty well this season, with a K/9 of 8.32 and a BB/9 of 2.32.  He’s got a FIP of 3.60 and an xFIP of 3.18 but because he’s got a BABIP against of .319 and a HR/FB rate of 15.4% his ERA is quite a bit higher.

Phil Hughes is coming off the longest outing of his career.  He’s been much better over his last six starts (3.60 ERA, 3.93 FIP, 4.01 xFIP than he was over his first five (7.48 ERA, 6.46 FIP, 4.64 xFIP).  He’s picked up a bit of velocity as well, wish his average fastball sitting around 93 mph vs. 92 mph.

That being said, I still expect bad things when he pitches, but hopefully not today.

Fox has the game blacked out. Probably a good thing. I don’t think Hughes + Buck + McCarver is a good way to spend a Saturday evening.

Trivia question I just posted on my Twitter: What is the most recent team that played in the World Series where no players from that team (who actually played IN that particular World Series) are still active?

97 Marlins?. @Mattwaters28 if you want to follow!

@shaked

Is it a “white people problem” if I found a piece of cork in my glass of whisky?

It is, indeed, the 2000 Mets.

I thought it was a nice topical question.

An interesting sub-question to that one is what Met from the 2000 team lasted the longest in the Majors? I don’t know offhand. I will guess Benitez but I really have no idea. Lenny Harris, perhaps? Joe McEwing? Piazza, even?

Really miss that curve.

I apologize for the typo in [5].

In extenuation of the circumstances, I can only state that I’m in the pacific time zone, hence, it is later than for the rest of you, and thereforestly, I am already drrubk.

Martino!

Oh wait, Jay Payton was still playing recently so it has to be him. I don’t know for sure, but it has to be. He was playing just two years ago.

Jeter breaks an 0 for 175 with a bloop single.

I got the hit I asked for last night!

I like how the 2B was jumping with Davis.

Yep, blacked out for the Seattle game. What shite. The Seattle game would normally be on anyway as it’s our local. So Fox spent their money on nothin’, not even counting that it’s fucking Seattle.

And in doing so, they fucked me out of the Yankee game. Not only by not showing it, but by blacking out a game they weren’t even going to show here. Fuckers.

THis pitcher’s gd photo is inadvisable.

Way to get on base Teixeira.

We’re boned.

Why bother.

I’m shocked.  Shocked, I tell you.

Who generates the most two strike foul balls in all the land??

Did mccarver really say that lefties don’t like hitting against Hughes?

So good I said it twice apparently.

I thought Miami was supposed to be pretty good.

A foolish consistency

Hehe. It really is. Just like the 2010 Yankees couldn’t go a game without a wild pitch, so, too, can Phil Hughes not go a game without giving up a homer.

Yikes, whoever said that Grandy was becoming Dave Kingman at the plate was spot on.

Just saw our little bases loaded result earlier.  More foolish consistency.

Carlos Beltran’s pitching?
How close is Hewes to the record?

[23] Well, they’re better than US, certainly. That doesn’t make ‘em GOOD.

WOE is us.

Jeter working with Ibanez?

Phil Hughes hates special ops warriors.  It’s a disgrace.

[32] Please to expound for those of us behind the Iron Curtain ?

oh, we’re wearing special hats.  The crack announce crew was talking about them and Phil promptly gave up a double.

OIC.

I hate those fucking hats. Are these the red ones that make everyone in the league look like a Townie douche-bag ?

Phucking Fill should pitch in the home run phucking derby

It’s just so freakin’ predictable.

It’s just so freakin’ predictable.

How many more consecutive starts for the record?

Arod need Aroid

Why Grandy shouldnta tagged up

Tex Rocks

A homer.  Now we have a chance.

It’s a freaking miracle.

How’s his UZR (whatever that is) now.  Wade’s been shaken AND stirred recently.

“The world has changed since Fan Cave was introduced.” - immortal words of Joe Buck

What a score to see Cody Eppley and the other guy on the 4 train.

Hey I saw John Turtorro walking and talking on his cell yesterday.

[48] Yeah ? Well I just saw Matt Damon and Tom Hanks shoot up a bunch of Nazis. I think that’s way more cool.

Moving on to Hobbits and Orcs (which is odd, seeing as how the Townies aren’t even playing).

I almost bought Jon Voigt’s car.  I still have his pencil.

Sori proofing?

Everybody tuck ya pants into ya socks.

I got a bad feeling about this

Money! Mo who? Wetteland II.

Yay.  The fact that the Yankees are hitting -.100 with the bases loaded somehow didn’t hurt them.  Wow.

Yay Hughes, Yay Tex, Yay Granderson, Yay/Phew Soriano…

Yay win!

Wettliano never makes it relaxing.

However,

Brett Gardner has suffered another setback to his injured right elbow, and New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi predicted the left fielder will not play until after next month’s All-Star break at the earliest.

Gardner, who only has played in nine of the Yankees’ 57 games this season, felt pain in the elbow after going out on a minor league rehab assignment with Single-A Charleston on Saturday. It was Gardner’s second unsuccessful rehab stint.

Gardner has been out since April 19, when he originally hurt the elbow diving for a ball in the outfield.

“I’m not sure when we will see him again,” Girardi said Saturday.

I’m thinking amputation…

Brett Gardner will announce his retirment in August

No way Gardner plays again this year.

Banuelos out another month with .....elbow, but its not serious or so they say.  Our medical staff DR Polyanna MD.  Oh BTW Betances beyond terrible this year.  What happened?

Yankees pitching development happened

Or trade Betances and watch him become an All Star
