Mariners (15-20) @ Yankees (19-14), Sunday, May 13, 2012, 1:05pm

SEA:Kevin Millwood (37, RHP, 0-4, 5.88) vs. NYY:Andy Pettitte (40, LHP, 0-0, undef)
Lineups
Mariners

Carp DH
Saunders CF
Ryan SS

Yankees
Jeter SS
Granderson CF
Rodriguez 3B
Cano 2B
Teixeira 1B
Swisher RF
Ibanez LF

Some prospect named Pettitte makes his first MLB start of the season today.  A Mariners team that’s hit .229/.278/.361 vs. LHP seems like a good matchup for him.

And from basements all across the nation, happy Mother’s Day to all the moms who let us dwell underground.

SG, may I post a link to this entire festival we’ve just put together?

Go for it.

This shift relies on Andy pitching to contact, a lot of contact.

I like the non-house money lineup in there for Andy.

I get Pettitte for my birthday! Andy, don’t suck today.

Millwood vs. Pettitte?

Party Like It’s 1999

Thank you for your support.
A stitch in time saves nine.
That is all.

The links worked! Happy day.

Jeter’s range must really be diminished if he’s playing with a co-SS.

Happy Birthday, Pete.

And what does that say about Martin’s range?  WOW!

[8, 10] Awesome.
[9] Thanks, Jonathan!

And what does that say about Martin’s range?  WOW!

You’re assuming he’s also catching. He’s not - their just going to use one of those pitch back screens.

There was a nice pregame ceremony featuring a wounded Marine vet and her German Shepard partner. Both were discharged and now the vet adopted the dog.

They brought Swisher out for a picture and the dog loved him. Then ARod came out and the dog charged him and went into a defensive posture. Rod was clearly spooked and could not wait to get out of there, wouldn’t go near the dog

Apparently you share a b’day with Bobby V, Pete.

That was scary. No Vlad scary, but still pretty scary.

Battle Mode: Engage !

How fast is Pettitte throwing?  GameDay isn’t working here.  Are we doomed?

Andy Pettitte

FB are mostly 88, 89. Saw a 90.

Curve at 75.

I wouldn’t mind us getting a hit this inning.

Apparently you share a b’day with Bobby V, Pete.

And on my birthday?
Not nice!
Anyways, he’s lying.  Would it surprise you?

Tex can’t catch a break

[13] Mariners feed just showed it, and while Alex was talking to her, the dog was sniffing at his leg. He did reach down a give a tentative pet to the dog, but he was keeping an eye on not making the dog any more nervous.

Of course the M-heads are yucking it up at his expense.

Too soon to congratulate Milwood on his perfect game?

Chavez!

another Yankee prospect ruined.

The way he was pitching I was thinking no-no

Maybe we could get some hits?

I suppose I was too greedy.  Maybe next inning we can get some walks and maybe an error?

The Yanks are getting shutout by Millwood at the stadium

Martin is just an unbelievable defensive catcher

A bunt from the left side by Teix !

Swisher!

Pitching around the dangerous Raul.

Based loaded, no outs. Run expectancy: 0.

Mariners have got us right where they want us now.

And now the GIDP.

And here comes the DP

The Yankees will not score this inning

That took some guts, to pitch strikes inside to a lefty at this park.

Chavez owes us some runs for that K.

Welcome back Captain GIDP.

That was expected. Jeter is returning to last year’s form quickly

[42] - What’s this plural that you are using?

Jeter’s been tapping soft grounders more and more lately so these GDPs are sort of expected.

Well, at least the WP didn’t figure. And there’s no rally.

Wait, I said “No Rally”. That’s what HR’s do.

Awful outing by Pettitte

Technically not a rally unless they score. Then it was.

C’mon GIDP ! Or any other non-scoring outcome.

Now would be a good time for a little battlin’

That is some classic battlin’

Well, the Battle Circuit is working pretty good. Now if we could just find the fault in the “Don’t Give Up HR’s with MOB” circuit.

Now would be good time for a little run scorin’

Alex wants to be the captain.

Milwood’s Mothers Day F-Bomb brought to you by the Emerald Queen Casino and Showboat.

This still feels like a Yankee comeback to me, somehow.

This no longer feels like a Yankee comeback to me, somehow.

Now pitching for your 1999 Atlanta Braves, Kevin Millwood….

Wade is good

yes, let’s use all the pitchers. this is the all-star game right?

Who will CT the eighth?

PH for Tex?

Of course it was Teixiera.

Teixeira making friends and influencing people.

Tex blows. What a disappointing player

Tex needs to be moved from the 5th spot!!!

[68] Yes. To the 10-hole.

well, at least iganez is due up in the ninth.

Clay Rapada’s mother is so ashamed.

So we’re good for 3 runs now, right?

Come on Swisher.

checking in late here, but—

Tex can eat a big bag of dicks.

Dumbest baserunning ever.

W
O E

Tex, Rapada, Jeter, Girardi, Swish, so many villains today

I have only been checking in occasionally, but I’m ready for less Pettitte and more Phelps.

I thought Andy pitched pretty well.  Better than the line shows.  Rapada - doh - but thanks to WOE making Kevin Milwood look like a good pitcher, it didn’t matter.

Third very sharp Banuelos start in a row.  From RAB
6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 5/3 GB/FB — 61 of 89 pitches were strikes (68.5%) … 15/0 K/BB in 14.2 IP since coming off the DL …

Think that’s two starts in a row.  But yeah.

One was shortened off the layoff

[80]  Rapada was put in a situation he wasn’t supposed to be in.  It’s not totally his fault.
