I’m already conceding this game so don’t really care what happens tonight, but I am still very concerned that the Mariners will swindle the Yankees in another trade this weekend.

Go Mariners! Also, USS Mariner tells me that it’s a perfect time to deal overrated closer Brandon League. Yankees are in need. I think Betances and Banuelos gets it done.

#1 comment has to be a complaint….I guess I am too late. Tex stinks

Continuing from the previous thread -

It’s not really the luxury tax that is that big of a deal. The rates are higher but the threshold is higher. If that were the only thing involved, the Yankees probably don’t care.

However, the big deal is that rebates on revenue sharing are tied to luxury tax threshold. The numbers I saw were that the Yankees pay $100M each year in revenue sharing. Due to the building a new stadium and such, they can get ~$50M back. However, if they are over $189M in 2014, they lose a huge chuck of that revenue sharing rebate (I think I saw something along the lines of $40M.)

[1]  You can have ‘em.

No more Nuney

No more Nuney

Don’t tease us. Did you hear something ?

[6] demoted per Sherman.

I hear the Mariners have some new phenom catcher that’s doing really well.

I can’t wait to see the Pineda vs Montero match-ups this weekend.  The two big chips going head to head for the first time after the swap should make for great talk.

Has a team ever scored fewer than 0 runs in a game before?

Wow. Nuney sent down to focus on SS, they think asking him to be a utility player hurt his defense. As if it could get any worse than it was ? Seriously ?

[4] Their last starts each were very strong, updating my optimism from -1 in a million.

1-Why Seattle Mariners fan when you’re a Townies fan?

Bandwagoner

I guess they are making sure to defend those Ichiro! choppers by playing 2 players at 3B?  Is Binder learning?

[13] If you were a Townies fan, you too would be looking for another distraction right about now.

If I were in Boston, I don’t think I’d park my car under any bridge overpasses or near any high-rise buildings these days. But I would try to corner the market on sash cord and rat poison.

[3] I remember there being something like that, but everything I looked at earlier today when I was curious just said that the top 15 teams by market size no longer receive revenue sharing payouts, and didn’t mention anything except the luxury tax rates and thresholds. Do you have a link?

Montero catching today is just salt in a wound.

13 time for a fresh start. The alternative is to walk around Seattle explaining why I have a bag over my head.

19 are you The Unknown Comic? Before your time?

The alternative is to walk around Seattle explaining why I have a bag over my head.

Trend setting doesn’t require explanation.

Strike….one? WTH.

Game over, man.  Game over.

Montero batting clean up and Smoak 7th. Cliff Lee shoulda been our then we could have at least got some draft picks.

Kuroda picking right up where he left off.

Kuroda’s 1st inning wOBA against: .433
All other innings: .302

That’s BEFORE tonight.

Shouldn’t we be stealing all the bases?

THIS is the pitcher we should have demanded.

[27] Felix sucks, he only throws 91 mph. He would have been harassed by the media and torn his labrum while overthrowing.

I have no faith in their catchers arm.

Jorge School of Baseruining alive and well.

Isn’t Kuroda supposed to be good after teh first?

Infield hit for Teixeira. He should get more of those

Only way he was going to get on.

I like how Felix wasn’t an all-star the year he won the Cy Young.

Looked up, saw dribbler and wondered if he bunted

King’s change is unbelievable.

Felix Hernandez is good at baseball.

Martin is good at defense and I really appreciate it

Jeter is topping more and more tappers to the left side again. I think the juice is wearing off.

Maybe Jeter needs a day off?

Jeter wintered with Ortiz

9 in a row for Hiroki

Tex should bunt

Smart send….ugh.

DFA Posado.

Haha, Tex vs. King Felix…

edit: Wow! Shit!

awful baserunning

Alex did not look good running. Smart, neither.

“felix the cat” hahaha

Cano is the worst baserunner right now. Don’t get why he wasn’t running to third after he knew the throw wasn’t going to be cutoff.

Felix is incredible to watch, even on Gameday.

I wonder if they would have given him up if the Yankees had thrown in a few B’s and a hughes…

Every time the Yankees look poised to score some runs, I feel like this dog.

OPS Watch

After his recent surge, Tex has pulled himself all the way up to .655. Martino is at .633. Of course, Martino is a catcher and not making $23M a year.

and Kuroda does’t have a K so far agaisnt the M’s

After the Yankees failed to score last inning, Felix was seen yelling “If you come at the king, you best not miss” towards the Yankee dugout.

Big one there

and Kuroda only has one K so far against the M’s.

Good timing krank.

Granderson got sca-rewed on that strike out call. Way outside.

Well that HR sums up everything, doesn’t it?

What was Cashman thinking.

Sigh.

Jesus has forsaken me.

The Yankees traded their best prospect in a while for an injured pitcher and lost their best pitcher of all time in the same season. This looks like the worst season ever.

QS Loss under way.

This looks like the worst season ever.

You need a 45 minute visit to SOSH to recharge.

was Tex saving his suck for a key situation?

Not getting A-Rod in is almost as inevitable as the Jesus homer.

Ibanez! Making a case for staying after the all-star break.

C’mon, you have to love the Iguana now, right?

So, I guess I can forgive a couple defensive miscues.

Maybe Ibanez is the holy spirit.

I-Man is greatest power hitter in MLB history. Just sayin’

I’d still rather have Teh Jesus.

why don’t we just give up on LHB Tex and platoon him with Iggy?

[76] Teixeira has already gotten the “give up” part down.

@ oscar. I suggested that a couple of evenings ago. WTF not? The goal is to win baseball games right?

TV not showing it, but the audio suggests there’s a wave going on. What is it, stoopid kid night ?

[78] Having a 22 million dollar platoon player would be very Yankees like.

78—yeah, plus Tex could come in and flash the leather in late-game defensive replacement situations….

nobody platoons anymore.  my lawn, kids, off it you must get!

Posado!! Oh sorry.

You know, this Kurodi kid is a decent pitcher.

That’s “Kurodey”.
Ey.

While nothing he does can really be termed “quietly,” A-Rod is close to quietly putting up a quality year so far. Including strong defense at third. The only thing missing is more pop in his bat. It would be awesome if this was just healthy A-Rod and the past couple of years were exceptions.

Oh, and how freakin’ awesome was that Ibanez homer?!

[85]
Hmmm… very?

We’re rooting for the O’s, right?

Granderson is fucking cooked.

[87] I am. But more because I’m hoping a hot Baltimore year would drive up the value on all my Billy Ripken baseball cards than because I think they’re more prone to midseason collapse than Tampa.

[87] Yep, since the Injuns don’t have any 7 run innings in them.

Except if we had to play them. But until then…

Furbush—is he RP on the all-p0rn name team?

Cano is looking uncooked lately.  I like it.

Yeah, this is who I want up right now.

They really need to bat Swisher fifth.

Right up there with Randy Bush.

They really need to send Teix to wander upstate until he deserves to return to the promised land.

[93]
redux

Cano getting hot just makes Teix look that much worse.  Which is really, really bad.

I thought maybe…since he’s batting from the right…

Nope. Dude just sucks.

How is this game doing for LOB?
