Blue Jays (40-40) @ Yankees (48-30), Friday, July 2, 2010 1:05pm **Game Chatter**

TOR: Brett Cecil (23, LHP, 7-5, 4.39) vs. NYY: A.J. Burnett (33, RHP, 6-7, 5.25)

I’m going to be away this weekend but I’ve set up the Game Chatters to post automatically about an hour before the scheduled start time.  They should show up on the main page, but if they don’t look for links at the bottom of the most recent post.

Don´t feel like a Yankees win would be much helpful today for my humor, but a loss certainly will be taken personally. They cannot do this to me on this day. I really hope the players are aware of my needs.

Not a single simpaty post, hum?

I feel your pain yfinBrazil.  I thought Brazil or Argentina were going to win the thing.

further more reason why football is a dumb sport, since the best team dont always…. oh wait.

[3]Thanks, SG. But I´m really hope you are wrong.

The last team I would ever want to win is Argentina.  Really hope they lose and Maradona literally falls down and breaks his face.  I may not know much about international “futbol” but I know that guy is a jackass.

further more reason why football is a dumb sport, since the best team dont always…. oh wait.

You can’t predict football, Suzyn. You really can’t.

I expected a snarky AJ heading to today’s chatter.  Why don’t they seed more like in tennis?  It seems silly to me to have Brazil/Netherlands and Argentina/Germany in the round of 8 instead of the semis.

They do, but England finished second in its group, France did not qualify, and neither did Italy. That´s 7 teams for 8 spots.

AJ fixed or random perturbation around the mean?

So…GameCast looks like today is good AJ.  Those with a TV agree?

[11] Agreed, so far.

Two good at-bats, nice to see the Yanks working the count right from the start.

AJ fixed or random perturbation abound the mean?

Uh, the second one. Zillophone.

Why do we want Dustin Moseley and are Gaudin or CHP less bad then Logan?

yfin, I feel your pain. My last roommate was a Brazilian (from Rio), and she was in tears the last time we were together watching the game against France at a bar in Rochester four years ago.

I like Maradona, but not enough to want the Argentinians to win. I think Spain or Germany are the likely winners now.

Damn! Robbie just missed that one.

Pull the ball please

That 394 ft. fly out from Cano would have been in the camera well at Fenway.

But Jon I thought it was Yankee Stadium that was the joke

[16] Thanks, Sam. It is much easier now, I have 2 kids and cannot show all the rage since they were watching with me. But I can recall where I was every last game Brazil played in each WC since 82 (when I was 6, and started to sob incontrolably when the team lost to Farnsworth Italy with 3 goals from Veras Paolo Rossi. The whole city is quite now.

single, checked swing single, passed ball, now what? I´m not in the mood for this. I really should refrain from watching sports for some days.

Any of you see the Black Stars advancing to the semis ?

[15] They’re promoting Mosely b/c of an out in his contract.  Not sure of the exact wording but I guess he needs to be in the big leagues or released.  Mosely’s solid, more able to go 3+ innings than CHP, and quite possibly more reliable than Gaudin.  He’s not going to make anyone willing to trade Ace, but there’s a good chance you won’t cringe when you see him warming in medium-leverage situations.

Watching from work with the sound muted…confused as to why Kay is holding a bottle of Sangria ?

[15, 24] and Logan was sent down because he has options.

There’s absolutely no way Brett went around on that.

Absolutely atrocious call by Jerry Meals.  That was a check swing by anyone’s definition.

[21] I remember 1982. That probably was one of the most talented world cup teams in recent memory, and Rossi’s utterly flukish performance knocked Zico and company out.

Zico is quite possibly one of the best ever to not have won a World Cup.

This was an obvious mistake even from the regular camera.

Tiny Netherlands beats the soccer world super power. Wow!

[26] Oh well.  In a way that makes sense though; trading deadline is only 4 weeks away; why DFA something that could be a trade piece for a desperate team in a few weeks; and remember Cash once turned Farnsworth into what should have been an above average backstop, so…hopefully, they don’t give Park or Gaudin *too* many more chances.

I think Brazil team from 82 is the second best team we ever had, trailing the 70 squad. I´d feel worse for Zico, whom I agree is probably the best player never to win a world cup, if not for him losing the penalty kick in 86.

Absolutely atrocious call by Jerry Meals.

HP or 3B ump?

Can they shut up Kim Jones NOW, please?  She and Kay are working the jinx on AJ.

[34] 3B.

Moseley had two league average years and two horrendous years in the bigs as I remember and was uninspiring at AAA this year.

AJ collapsing.

I think I’ve seen this movie its called Videodrome

[36] Thanks.  That’s bad, but at least not as bad if the home ump doesn’t ask for help.

[37] I saw him pitch I think twice; kinda thinking I saw him a third but can’t remember.  First time he was uninspiring, but battled (there, I said it!) and had OK results.  Second time he was pretty good.  As I wrote, he’s no going to be great, but should be serviceable until Ace/Mitre gets back, and when those guys ARE back may be ahead of CHP/Gaudin.

Has AJ taken some battling lessons ?

The other team swinging at ball 4 helps in battling.

does this mean a shutout is in order since AJ got through his bad inning without giving up a run?  Or is it more than one inning with him these days?

Eerily similar to the first inning right here.

Ooooo, double steal.  That’s fun.

Broke the symmetry though.

They’re not going to score a single run this inning, are they?

Someone should tell Alex that RBIs earlier in the game count as well.

Sam, he has one.

Wow, this is criminal.

Wow this blows.

I’ve seen this movie before Much Ado About Nothing

This inning, I don’t like this inning. Yet.

This offense Farnsing sucks.

Well, that sucked.

Cecil basically handed them a bases loaded, no outs situation.  And they shat it away.  What a joke.

What’s sadder, that it actually happened, or that we all saw it coming?

How many fucking times this year have we had two on or bases loaded with none out and got nil or one at most and Robbie you’re great but you don’t have to hack at everything but after yesterday’s WOE against the pitcher with the WORST ERA in the bigs and at least 13 starts nothing should surprise me.

And to think when Arod was up I was AFRAID of a DP

As frustrating as that inning was, I still want to punch Sterling in the face when the first thing he talks about is getting a fly ball out to get the run in. I’m seriously considering switching to the Toronto stream if he can’t shut up about it.

Helluva snag by Grandy !

[61] Any excuse you have to punch Kay is okay with me.

What’s sadder, that it actually happened, or that we all saw it coming?

That is happened with the 4-5-6 hitters.

Cervello illustrating the importance of making contact.

WOE has taken a firm hold of this homestand, so far.

This offense is just going through the motions.

Does anyone feel like Posada would be thrown out even if he was trying to steal on that wild pitch?

Sweet ground out, Jetes.

Seems like this offense has really sucked through the first 7 innings of ball games.

I really didn’t need to see Kay licking icecream off his hand.

64-usually its the 3/4/5 guys that are the culprits.  Cano is great but wouldn’t he be that much better if he had an approach in those situations?

Turkey Hill ice cream: Player of the Game for making Kay STFU at least momentarily.

I’m gunna go out on a limb and say Lewis will be on second base within two to three pitches.

Wow, the little prick stuck his legs into that one.

Cano is great but wouldn’t he be that much better if he had an approach in those situations?

While I admit to not seeing this particular case…wtf are you talking about?  He’s shown a good approach all year, usually laying off of pitches he can’t hit.  He’s got a .990 OPS w/ RISP, .973 w/ men on.  Just b/c he happens to have a bad AB or even a bad game when lots of runners are on in front of him doesn’t mean he’s get bad/no approach.

An insurance run or two would be optimal.

Hoochie Mama! Hoochie Mama!

Someone should tell the Yankees that every inning is the bottom of the ninth and they’re down by 3 runs.

This guy has completed innings on 80 pitches even though he walked 5 guys and struck out 5 guys. Usually that means a pitcher has thrown about 100 pitches.

I think some of these guys are going up there hacking.

Burnett was up 0-2 on Bautista.  And he walked him.  And then a wild pitch to put the tying run on second with no outs.
He really makes me appreciate CC more than ever.

The bottom fell out of that pitch.

Generous strike 3 per gd.

[82] Yes.  But as Kay mentioned, Wegner has been calling it all game.

Fair enough, thanks.

That helps explain the score.

Classic Yanks.

That was really stupid, Brett.  Ball four.

Zero for their last 19 with RISP.

Clutch doesn’t seem to be in the Yankee dictionary lately.  Wow are they inept. Did anyone besides me see a DP coming with Cervelli.  Would a sacrifice be out of the question.

That ball would have eaten up a lot of 2Bmen.

A.J. definitely labored through a couple innings, but you can’t argue with the result.

Did you guys know that the Yankees are actually winning this game?  It’s true.  Since the first inning, too.  I had no idea.

What the hell is with Yankee batteries giving up free bases??? Particularly in close games….

Damaso Marte has walked about 16% of the hitters he has faced this year. Real good.

I wish he had some other use to this team than getting the likes of Fred Lewis out.

“You can’t guide it; you only can hit it.” - J. Sterling

Efficiently bad offense.  They really can’t get out of their own way lately.

[92] I take it Teix’s was a rocket?

Wow, how is it possible this offense can be this bad? Its really a remarkable feat of (non)hitting when you think about it.

Joba in a one-run game.  Your thoughts/predictions?

96: Hide the wimmens and childrens.

What should go on Dave Eiland’s HOF plaque?

Damn, it’s Joba on a day game!

[99] That he could keep his personal issues personal, unlike A-Rod?
