I would like to be the first to congratulate Jose Bautista on the first 5 HR game in MLB history.

[1] Along with how many IBBs?

Jays should be easy to beat Bautista’s home runs only hurt the team.

[2] 5 as well.

Let’s go fluke win.

I am shocked. SHOCKED!

1 down, 4 to go.

Bautista: no fluke

Bautista does not look like he should have this much power.

I guess I’m glad the homer came before the singles.

Bautista will be the first non-PED user to break Maris’ record.

Villanueva is not going to regress today.

Colon: no fluke

Congrats to Carlos Villanueva on his first perfect game.

Congratulations to Jose Bautista on his first career Gold Glove.

[17] Excellent.

From a pure baseball perspective, it’s really fun to watch Bautista in the batter’s box right now.

Why steal in front of a guy OPSing 1.3?

[21] - So Davis doesn’t have to run as far when Bautista hits his HR.

[21] If it was Girardi, Bautista would have bunted.

Gardner Power!

Damn he’s fast.

The fact that Girardi has sac bunted with Granderson multiple times this year gives me no reason to believe he wouldn’t do the same with Bautista if he was his manager.

If you’re Chris Dickerson, and you have 2-0 count, a pop-up is the incorrect outcome of the next pitch.

Colon is doing pretty well against human beings.

I was expecting Teixeira to bunt Granderson over.

Odds we score 11%

Yay run!
... Wait, did Cano take a pitch?

Not exactly wolf-like, but certainly could have been worse.  So: meh!

GD has Colon’s FB in the K of Arenciba with a pfx of 15”.

We replaced Bartolo Colon with Randy Johnson, let’s see if anyone notices…

It sure would be nice for the Yanks to give Colon a little run support.

I love what KL said about Cano.  I hope Robbie listens and is able to implement.

If a guy reaches on error all the time, maybe it’s not the fielders…  (Can’t tell from GD if this is silly in context.)

[38]

“His swing is that good and that efficient that when he swings at good pitches, as high as you want to set the bar he could be”

I love it too, partly because I agree and partly because Long sounds like Yoda.

Also, someone tell TSBG to start getting a better jump.

High, far, caught.  Thanks Sterling.

Wow, Jeter has no power anymore (outside of Arlington, TX).

Sterlinged again. But with Jeter at the plate did you expect differently?

Michael Kay is ridiculous.  That didn’t even look close off the bat.

It bugs me that this team might waste another great start from a pitcher that was barely even a consideration for the rotation in ST.

Say what you want about the Jays, but they sure play the game the right way.

Say what you will about the binder, but its definitely by the book.

That was completely unsurprising.

I’m absolutely shocked by that outcome.  Shocked.

GD had the pitch to Hill in the center of the zone.

And oy.

And that two intentional walks in one inning came back to hurt them.

It’s really irritating to see non-Bautista Blue Jays get hits left and right off Colon while the Yankees lineup continue to get shut down by every random pitcher they face.  It magnifies just how little this team has been hitting.

And vey.

Two IBB in the inning was a bit much. If colon just pitches to Bautista it certainly couldn’t have turned out any worse.

Yanks could use some of those runs from Baltimore right about now…

Whatever.

Nice game. I’d love to blame it on Girardio but I gotta lay it on Toley. His “stuff” has headed for the exits. WTF is he still pitching?

Wonderful! We don’t play good and its been quite a while since we have.  Our offense consists of solo homers and lucky ground ball.  Our leading hitter is hitting 280

We dont hit, our pen blows too many games and our manager manages like its 1930.  We’ll be lucky to finish 3rd in th East.

If Tex can pop one we’re back in it.

[58] Could be worse. It’s not the end of the world.
Kudos to Pin.

[58] Like it’s 1930 and we don’t have Ruth or Gehrig.

At least our owner isn’t Fred Wilpon.

Holy shit that was lucky.

Solo homers or luck are our forte.  Girardi would have Ruth bunting whenever Lazzeri got on.

Its been a while since Jorge HRed.

Man. would I love to let a hip hip go now.

I’m paying $200 to sit in a luxury box jul 31 vs Os, proceeds go to an animal rescue charity, will we even be in the hunt then?

66 how about an I’m doing a Mike Schmidt or Griffey Jr from Jorge.

[69] I’m not sure what that means… clarify.

70:Didnt they both announce their retirements mid season?

Holy cow this game sucks.

How many leadoff walks can Granderson accumulate?

[71] Oh. Like Lou and Murcer. Both forced out. I thought you meant 1000 home runs.

Still innit lads.

72 did you mean team instead of game.  Dont think Schmidt was forced out.  He took everyone by surprise.

Yankees Classic.

We’re seriously underperforming our pythag.  Four half up on Townies before tonight.

I would just like to point out that TSBG led off the ocho spot the other night, and it could happen again.

Also, [62, 64, 66, 68] Like + 1. Trying to catch up.

Also, already drubk. Trying to catch up.

Edit: Scratch 62, substitute 61. Can see straight. You know why.

If more of these fivesix hits had been homers, we’d probably have more runs right now.

Manufacturing one run is clearly important here. Way to move the runner over, Dickerson. Productive outs.

Yay productive out.

And the key to this season is, however many pitches we leave a pitcher in for, it is 20 too many.

Please excuse the grammatical, er…construction of the above grammer. I’m…you know.

Jeter with a strikeout, ground out, fly out, and line out. Don’t wanna jinx it, but he’s a pop out away from the cycle!

Steal home, Gardner. Make this interesting.

The title of the following story is Teams That Could Nab Plaxico Burress.

Raise your hand if the first thing that came to mind was NYPD SWAT.

Trying to catch up.

Wrong true outcome, Curtis.

[85] Doesn’t he still have to get BB-Pickoff to make it official ?

Also, [61] is right on. Just read Jeffrey Toobin’s piece in the New Yorker…
And [87].

Well, as far as this game goes, at least SEA is losing, so there’s one team we’re not losing ground on in the WC race.

Looks like Cleveland (2011 Indians, not 1899 Spiders) just took one from the Best Team Evah. Not that it’s any excuse for the half of our lineup that hasn’t shown up this year.

This game was meh, but the New York Mess takes spotlight from them.

Mr. Wilpon, to relieve you of your troubles of having to endure Carlos Beltran, we will take him, and give you Nick Swisher in return. Even up.

And I am willing to give you a true face of the franchise in Derek Jeter, and take Jose Reyes from your hands. (actually, just kidding, as much as I hate the groundballs, I can’t envision him in a Mets uniform)

David Wright, well, there is one guy I don’t think we can take. Although if you want to have Alex Rodriguez break the HR record in Citi Field and give us David Wright in return, I am going to seriously consider that.

At least Tampa Bay and Boston both lost.

as much as I hate the groundballs, I can’t envision him in a Mets uniform

No need to imagine it.

He’d look good in a Cleveland uniform, his 3,000th hit would help fans get over the loss of Lebron and they could give us there no name SS.
