A-Rod to play in Dunedin Friday night
Dunedin, FL—The New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez will play for the Tampa Yankees, in Dunedin, Friday and Saturday nights, as part of his rehab from knee surgery.
The Tampa Yankees will begin a three game series on Friday night in Dunedin tied for first place in the Florida State League North.
A-Rod has been working his way back from knee surgery on July 11 to repair a torn meniscus, and is expected to play at least two games in Dunedin. He is expected to DH Friday night, and play the field on Saturday.
Rodriguez hasn’t played in a minor league game since 1996. Good news anyway.
Comments
At least SG’s here…ARod is still I think the 3rd most valuable position player (fWAR and bWAR) despite missing all that time. If he comes back fully healthy I think he could easily be the difference betwen NYY and Boston the rest of the year…
I was going to see how the Yankees did at third since A-Rod went out when he comes back. I get the sense they’ve been ok there, offensively at least.
OK, but not great.
Since July 8, 3B splits

Great pitching matchups this weekend. Did Maddon juggle the rotation to set up this way? I don’t see anything to that effect, though he goes to “borderline desperation” a lot it seems. I’ll be at Safeco watching Beckett vs Felix, where a dispropportionately small number of players will be hit or brushed back, for lack of an NY on their uniform.
[3] Yay Eric Chavez!
“Beckett vs Felix”
That’s an odd couple.
RAB & comments claim that CC is right-handed. And Joba is left-handed.
Probably Joba’s fault.
