If this doesn’t work, it’s time to bring back Mike + the Mechanics.

Well you know that Johnny’s a spider
And his web is the city at night
He’s a victim of modern frustration
That’s the reason he’s so ready to fight
He’s the one who should be afraid

Why in the world would you play this Casey guy at third on the heels of two losses? I know Chavez may have missed a DP ball last night, but wow.  Why not rest Chavez after a win, assuming there will be one eventually.

Are you familiar with Chavez’s health record?  At least he’s in the lineup.

Or bring back the female good luck charm that Jon posted in the past.

Hey is this team managed by Joe Quinn?

So four BBs and four HBPs for Cabrera and Fielder today?

Is anyone else having difficulties with MLB.tv today?  THey aren’t giving me a link to watch the game on either my computer or iPhone…

Anyone know what the story is with MLBTV right now?

mlb.tv fail, so I can’t follow what’s happening. Is the game in rain delay ? It shows the Yankees scored 2 runs, and not followed by immediate runs for the Tigers.

I see I’m not the only one…

From the MLBTV forums, “The games that began at 7PM ET as well as the Padres FSSD feed are currently unavailable. We are working on resolving this as soon as possible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”

These people are as useful as the Yankee offense.

What’s gotten into Cano?  Has he been watching Bolt?

Was just thinking, “If Granderson pulls one - jerks one? - hits one out? - hits a home run, then karma will be satisfied”.

Glad I was able to watch last night’s CT but not tonight’s game…

Mouse batteries…

OK, well if THAT doesn’t result in some Tigers runs, something different is definitely going on.

I can’t wait to see how they blow this one.

Just got out of Tai Chi and this is a pleasant surprise as is the townies score.  Didn’t know they played a day game.  10-9 Hah!

[19] - I switched computers after they went up 5-0 and booted up Firefox to see that the Yankees were down 6-5.  Totally flipped out until I realized it was from yesterday’s game.

I could not possibly have been more wrong about Chavez.

Are the Orioles the best bad team ever?

[23] The Orioles are last in fWAR. I can’t wait for them to sweep the Yankees in the beginning of September.

I do think looking at the Orioles run differential doesn’t give us a real good picture of how good/bad they are.  I’m guessing if you take away the performances by people who are no longer in key roles on the team they would look a lot better.

FWIW mlb.tv has the Detroit feed up, now.

Hey, we’re winning a baseball game!  I like this.

oh, Swisher.

Swisher, crazy like a fox.

[19] you were saying?

8-7 loss is going to sting.

Remember when CC would pitch better in the second half of the year?  I miss those days.

Oh WTH Cano?

30 beat me to it

This sucking is a team effort.  STFU Flaherty.

[31] Don’t try to shift the blame onto Cano or CC.

Cano is lazy.

Could’ve used one of these hits YESTERDAY Grandy.

¡Ichiro!

Did this team just attend a Jorge Posada baseruining seminar?

Team defense isn’t exactly covering itself in glory tonight, is it?

Oh, A-Rod, we were all so wrong.  Hurry back, buddy.  We miss you.

Total panic!

You can’t get mad at the Spiders for being the Spiders.

2012 Yankees=2011 townies.  Complete choke.

Fuck our lives.

this is inevitable.

[36] We’re gonna need all of ‘em, and more, to get out of this one.

What a horseshit rally.

so, so pathetic

You know, I’m really not that surprised by this.

Cano, you’re supposed to throw that one away.

[47] Yes, it is.

Robertson is still broken. Send him back for RMA. Or amputation. Whatever. He’s dead to us.

This team sucks so much.

Mo gets the next 6 outs right? Right?

why pull CC with only 93 pitches? This Joe Girardi sucks too much

Whatever.  They’re still not going to win.

Kay said “Coke deals” I remember those days.

The gameday operator is refusing to give us credit for that run scored.

Can we appeal ?

[59] Steve Howe wasn’t that long ago.

On Fangraphs, they had an article on OF tiers and Granderson was in the first tier with Bautista and Trout. But is there anyone in baseball you wouldn’t trade for Trout right now?

I thought Cano had a shot at MVP, but Trout is almost a lock at this point.

Funny story, checked my e-mail and the Yankees contacted me to let me know that my postseason ticket invoice is coming in the next week.  Interesting timing in sending that information out don’t you think?

Robertson…

So much suck.

Is Nova tutoring D-Rob?

And now Cabrera is sitting dead red.

[66] No, but Joba has been traveling with the team….

We need more runs, Russell.  A lot more runs.  That’s not going to help.

This is a reverse CT.

So who hits the walk-off: Cabrera or Prince?

I’m guessing Jackson, to make it really sting.

I am shocked.

I feel like we lost.

Yay non sweep !!

That’s pretty much all I got.

Overall I have to say that was a positive win. Some shoddy defense and .BABIP luck for Detroit shouldn’t obscure the fact that Granderson might be turning it around and Swisher could be a more productive hitting second.

anti-poop?

Props to JonCUO for the poem/rap that was the beginning of Tuesdays game thread.
Yay win.

Why was Casey M at third last night?  I have to believe Nix is the better player assuming Chavez had to be rested. As it turned out his defense did cost the Yanks last night. Just because they got him doesn’t mean they are obligated to put an inferior defender in the lineup just to get him some at bats.
