Oh Dear Lord, a Jeff Mathis sighting…
The Spiders have tied their longest winning streak of the year by winning their second game in a row yesterday. Given the fact that they won more than one game in a row exactly once all year, don’t bet on that streak extending to three tonight. The good news is they still have enough time left in the season to surpass their longest losing streak of the season at 24 games.
Comments
That Toronto lineup might give the Spiders a run for their money
It doesn’t excuse the play of this team, however, 152 games in scarcely 4 months is a brutal pace.
Also have I mentioned how much I hate this lineup and rotation, they’re old as hell.
[3] Seriously. Joe Quinn hasn’t been a serviceable hitter in like 120 years.
[3]They’re not that old.
Tommy Tucker, their oldest player, was born in 1863.
Anyone have any idea how our starting pitcher got his first name?
[5] I’m going to guess mercury poisoning.
Anyone have any idea how our starting pitcher got his first name?
I hear he has an oil painting portait of his head on the body of a unicorn. Saw it somewhere on the internet.
Probably someone took one good goddamn look at his eyes.
Schmidt (96) is recognized as one of the oldest living major league ballplayers. As of November 2011, he is considered to be the fourth oldest living former major league player, and the oldest to have played for a World Series–winning team.
[9] So he was -17 when he played for the ‘99 Spiders?
[9]If he was 96 in 2011, he would have been -16 in 1899.
That’s 31 years younger than Joe Nuxhall was in his debut.
Crimony. Pitch one to Jones was right up the pipe and called a ball.
Cano breaks up the perfecto. That’s a start.
Yay not getting shutout !
Ruh roh. Bases loaded no outs. End of rally.
I predict -3 runs.
Ichiro beat out a GIDP. Weird.
At least we got two runs this inning
McGaheehee-ey with the non-GIDP, too.
Have we turned a corner ?
Clearly the worm has turned.
Aggressiveish baserunning? What’s going on here?
Frederick M. “Crazy” Schmit (February 13, 1866 – October 5, 1940) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He played for the Pittsburgh Alleghenys, Baltimore Orioles, New York Giants, Cleveland Spiders, and Baltimore Orioles. At the time of the 1910 United States Census, Schmit was living in Chicago with his wife Mary and their three children, Dorothy, Karl, and Frederick. Schmit’s occupation was still listed as a “Professional Baseball player.” In October 1940, he died of a heart attack and a cerebral hemorrhage at his home in Forest Glen section of Chicago.
Apparently Frederick Schmit was known as Crazy, but that wasn’t enough, so his other nickname was “Germany.”
Is the Rogre’s Centre a dome ? I thought we were expecting a rainout.
I thought we were expecting hoping for a rainout.
[24]
Its a convertible.
[26] Thx
Fredo hates us.
Girardi needs to be provoked into getting thrown out, otherwise he’s going to let Freddy stay in the game too long, and we’ll resume our drumbeat of 1-run losses.
QS in the books for Freddy. The QS Loss is still in play.
What the fuck is wrong with Girardi? Bringing Joba to a one run game in the bottom of the 7th to face one batter??? Better leave Logan in there.
Where is Eppley BTW to face a RHB???
Joba just left a slider over the plate to Mathis. The guy isn’t reliable right now, then don’t use him in high leverage situations. I suppose they are trying to win the division, right?
TEX!
Nice rally
Tacking on in the late innings? What team is this?
To the many of you not here and posting tonight:
Please give up your newfound lives and come home.
All is forgiven.
As expected Joba is not ready yet
How much readier could he be than topping 100mph?
Yeah, walk the dangerous Rajai Davis, Robertson. Smart move.
Robertson got too much praise for getting out of that bases-loaded in the situation vs. the Twins. He never got such praise for a one-two-three inning and it went to his head.
Girardi is managing weird tonight.
What did these guys put on their Wheaties this morning?
(36) I prefer here and not posting. Hey Pete. Fgas. Fright Night (new one) sucks like a Holley 4 barrel.
Yay uncharacteristically angst-free evening.
OTF, what is up?
I didn’t see Fright Night. I did, however, see the Zombies. Live.
One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.
Yay non-sweep ! Yay Ichiro in CF !
(45) Did anyone tell you about her?
Describe the condition of her eyes.
The way she looks! (shudder)
Where is she?
Perhaps in Beechwood Park?
