Spiders’ Win Probability: -200.0%
Since the Spiders couldn’t be bothered to put forth a good effort in last night’s game, I’m not going to put any effort into writing an intro for this game.
Comments
whatsoever
Ty Wiggington, great player or greatest player?
Kevin Millar greatest
As long as the Nickster! gets a couple of clutch BB’s tonite, the team should prosper.
Of course someone will have to drive him in, so maybe not. Or do RBI’s matter?
I’m concerned about the Phillies Mets in the fall classic.
[3] He is the pigman, after all. All part of that super secret American military project.
I always wanted to root for the Spiders.
Certainly RBI BB don’t matter.
I wonder what the all-time record for RWI is?
I wonder if Jeter will hit a grounder here.
He found a hole!
A hit!
How did Nick Johnson do that with a styrofoam fan finger?
Ground outs: not getting the job done.
It’s sad that the announcers are talking about how important it is for Teix to hit a ball to the right side of the infield and then congratulating him when he does.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR BLACKOUT RULES
Seriously, I have never ever EVER met an Orioles fan in the six years I’ve lived in North Carolina. About 1% of households in North Carolina can get MASN from their local cable provider. Who thinks it is a good idea to include virtually all of NC in the Orioles territory, and black out all of their games on MLB.tv?
MLB blackout rules make the tax code look reasonable by comparison.
MADNESS I SAY
I thought Cano learned how to not hit line drives right at fielders.
Hell of a play there by Alex.
It’s nice to hand CC a 2-0 lead.
A-Rod is just really, really good at baseball. Really good.
[16] Shouldn’t you be upset about this? You seem to be pretty calm about the whole ordeal. I know that I would be furious if I were in your situation.
Yay CC!
[16] - Yeah. Think how it must feel to be a baseball fan in Iowa. And that’s on top of the fact that you have to live in Iowa!
[20] I’m dealing with it in my own way.
Uh-oh. Posada will need one of them jazzy scooters to get around the bases now.
I feel like Granderson would have had a shot at a double if Posada wasn’t on first there.
I can’t tell if Posada is hurt or just that freaking slow.
Lol, even Singy is acknowledging that it takes 6 base hits to score Jorge Posada from first. I love it.
Grandy almost beat him home!!!
Damn, Nick. Hot DAMN!
So many triples this month.
[24] Couldn’t they just give him a Segway?
Gardner swung at two ball fours.
Johnson’s refusal to swing the bat infuriates me.
I hate it when Nick does that.
I haven’t started researching yet, but what’s the biggest gap between BA and OBP ever? If I had to guess, I’d go with Bonds. Is there a metric for this? I feel like there is. lmgt4y…
I like the Yankee efficiency in this game: no runners left of base, five runs after two innings, sans home run. That tells me the Yanks are playing the game the right way.
Dallas Braden is on a mission to implement unwritten rules violation of which would have prompted Bob Gibson to drill everyone’s ass. He just said something to B. J. Upton because Upton asked for time, and Braden had to stop in his motion.
Even without making an out on the basepaths.
Any status on Posada?
[37] Seems precautionary. Hit him flush on the back of the knee. Probably just really sore. Doubtful it’ll be a long term issue.
Hey now!
“Yeah. Think how it must feel to be a baseball fan in Iowa. And that’s on top of the fact that you have to live in Iowa!”
[38] Ta.
Austin Jackson is a really, really good CF.
Awesome.
[41] I noticed that during ST.
CaYay!

You are trying to think of IsoD, which is (OBP-BA). I can’t find a place that lists it though.
Bad Cano!
This guy is so fucking good right now. Unreal. This is like Jeter in the first half of 99 good.
Crap. Not a good sign.
Wow, Robbie swinging for the fences is such a bad idea.
Cano is good.
I’m watching on Gameday, what happened to Posado?
EDIT: Just read the above posts.
Wow, Robbie swinging for the fences is such a bad idea.
39 home runs or 50 home runs would be okay, right?
[39] - I hadn’t checked to see if you were logged in, but I had hoped you were.
[50] No, because somewhere in bewtween 39 and 50 you must hit #40. Then all sorts of bad things happen. So terrible I dare not conjure them up. Cano! knows better.
Sterling just said “hard in, soft away”. Is this another ED commercial?
Yankees not most hated team in mlb.
Cleveland Indians? I don’t get the hate.
Also, we are not going to talk about the captain’s error, are we?
[51] - I’m so busy anymore that I’m rarely here, but you happened to catch me tonight. Good stuff.
I actually don’t know what happened, but I’m only blacked out of STL and the two CHI teams this year - I can get MIL, MIN, and KC now.
[54] That is awful. The team needs to win four in a row to retake first. They should not rest until they are number 1! again.
Po with a contusion, no tests being done.
This CC fella isn’t bad at all
Bob’s Big Boy. ©2009
Teixeira really is useless right now.
THEY FEAR HIM!
Thank goodness April is a relatively short month.
Cano! with another hit.
Unoutable!
Amazing.
Maybe Lord Helmet can play first and we can put that other guy on the bench.
I can’t believe the Spiders scored seven runs against Cy Guthrie.
Cano is at .400 for the season. I wonder if this is the best ~75 AB stretch in his career. I’m sure he’s hit .400 in this many ABs before, but probably not with the power and the 6 walks.
Francisco Cervelli. Man, myth, legend.
A-Rod is kinda dead to me. Teix cannot even be exhumed at this time.
[67] - So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
CC trying this whole “battling” thing everyone else on the staff has been raving about.
CC was just messing with them.
[72] Would he be offended if we started calling him BattleFat? Or FattleCat? CattleBat?
Remember Wilson Betemit?
Romine extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
[74] He’d probably drink your milkshake.
Way to swing that bat, Nick

His best stretch was 7/21/2007 - 8/12/2007. Over 22 games he hit .465/.525/.826 in 99 PAs, with 6 HRs and 9 NIBBs.
Incidentally, the Yankees went 17-5 over that stretch too.
[75] Wilson Betemit…Hmm. Doesn’t that mean “Hitters Aren’t Fooled Any More” in English?
Also re: Cano, although there’s a lot of overlap, he has 40 distinct 20 game stretches where he’s hit at least .400.
Diaz has had a fairly consistent strike zone all night. Too bad Wally Bell couldn’t do the same last night.
More Cano fun, he has 56 distinct 20 game stretches where he’s hit under .200.
So is Cano good or bad? I’m confused.
So is Cano good or bad? I’m confused.
As long as he doesn’t hit 40 home runs, he’s good.
So is Cano good or bad? I’m confused.
He’s both good and bad.
[80] Huh. I thought it meant Nick Swisher?
Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays on their 2010 AL East title.
[84] Cano good, A-Rod bad, Teix ugly.
[88] I think that is going to turn out rather prescient.
Important to keep the pressure up on Red Sox.
Both good and bad? So what you’re saying is that you never can tell with baseball.
How about them Mets?
[84] Cano good, A-Rod bad, Teix ugly.
Vazquez - the guy that died in the beginning and told Clint Eastwood where the gold was.
Ok, I will bite. Who is the person that said that it is bad for Cano to hit 40 HRs?
Why is Cano going back to the dugout? I don’t get it.
Who is the person that said that it is bad for Cano to hit 40 HRs?
Common sense. Or baseball wisdom.
Isn’t it an unwritten rule not to score six runs in any inning that Dallas Braden is pitching?
[94] Pretty sure it was Karros on Saturday.
If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Cano isn’t a power hitter, so why would you want him to hit 40 home runs?
[99] Exactly. It would be like Jeter not GIDPing.
